Dissertation topics must include a significant component on American art (U.S.) or examine artistic interchange between the U.S. and Europe. The fellowship provides housing, workspace, and a $5,000 stipend, for Summer 2010, in France at Giverny (the village outside Paris where Monet lived and painted and American painters attracted by Monet settled as well). The program gathers senior and pre-doctoral art historians and studio artists from America and Europe at Giverny, and is meant to support intensive writing and networking. Senior scholars provide mentorship, and informal lectures and seminars offer stimulation., To apply for nomination, please submit the following materials to the Dept Coordinator by Monday, November 23 at 4pm: (1) a dissertation proposal written for another grant opportunity or the departmental proposal, (2) a brief statement (a page or less) explaining: how far along the dissertation is now, how far along you expect it to be in June 2010, and your writing goals for the summer. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;</description>
