Recently, Rev. Pat's oldest sister sent her a blog post entitled, “I'm Christian, unless you're gay.”
(www.danoah.com…). The writer noted he really wasn't writing about homosexuality or about Christians. He was writing about when we well-intentioned folk, it could be any one of us, feel justified in abandoning lovingkindness because of who someone is. We aspire in our lives to live out our UU principles of compassion and acceptance. Yet, can we think of anyone, any groups we might list in the following blank: “I am a loving, compassionate Unitarian Universalist, unless you are a _________”? On this Sunday before Valentine's day, Rev. Pat will talk about living the compassion life even among those we disagree with. Special music provided by local singer/songwriter Kim Kalman. (Kim has created a CD of her music exclusively for UUCOB for $15 that will be available for purchase on Sunday.)

GEM is excited to offer a new program: THE SUP+PER CLUB, created to provide peer support and assistance for people with dementia and their caregivers. The SUP+PER CLUB offers an opportunity for education and socialization within a protective environment for those first encountering the disease. THE SUP+PER CLUB will provide speakers to promote a better understanding of the disease and pave the way for better care at home. Education, supper, entertainment, and respite provided ($15/couple).
