Luke Timothy Johnson, Robert W. Woodruff Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Candler School of Theology and CSLR Senior Fellow. Rather than examine the topic of law in the Gospel of Matthew in order to locate the legal perspectives of the historical Jesus, or to put Matthew in contention with a supposedly "lawless" Paul, Johnson will show how a patient examination of Matthew on its own terms reveals a rich and complex understanding of the ways Torah and the figure of Jesus intersect.

The conference, which will begin at noon on February 24 and conclude at 12:30 on February 25, will feature papers by Deborah Beim and John Kastellec; Kenneth Benoit; Lee Epstein, Andrew Martin, and Jeff Segal; Sean Gailmard and John Patty; Anna Harvey; Stuart Jordan; Lanny Martin and Georg Vanberg; Sebastian Saeigh; Alex Hirsch and Ken Shotts; and Greg Caldeira, Jack Wright, and Chris Zorn. Participate in a law school class simulation lead by Emory Law Professor Timothy Holbrook and meet other law school professors

The Open House will be held in G575 of Gambrell Hall on the Emory University campus. Gambrell Hall is located at 1301 Clifton Road (at the corner of Clifton and N. Decatur Roads). Free parking is available in the Gambrell Lot immediately behind the law school building or in the Lowergate South parking facility located just off Gambrell Drive.
