DESCRIPTION:Spacex is pleased to present a new project by Simon Pope\, w
 hich will be split over two sites at Spacex and Exeter Cathedral. Pope p
 lans to restore a stone figure from Exeter Cathedral which his great gra
 ndfather crafted over 90 years ago and has great significance for five g
 enerations of his family. Rather than use the Cathedral’s extensive arch
 ive for reference\, the figure will be carved from the memory of the art
 ist’s grandmother working in dialogue with a local stonemason. \n\nThe i
 nstallation at Spacex will comprise an audio recording between Pope’s gr
 andmother and the stonemason including the conversations and process of 
 interpretation\, imagining and reconstruction. \n\nThe second stage of t
 he project will be the display of the maquette created by the stonemason
  at Exeter Cathedral. As with some of Pope’s previous work\, this projec
 t brings together artists from traditional bases\, craft-based in charac
 ter into proximity with contemporary practice – opening one approach to 
 another and vice versa. \n\nThrough a process of dialogue with the artis
 t’s grandmother and a stonemason from Exeter Cathedral the image and for
 m of the figure will be retrieved\, brought back from its deteriorated s
 tate and the new figure will be displayed in the Cathedral.\n\nSimon Pop
 e was born in Exeter\, and currently lives in London and works in Cardif
 f\, UK.

  or made by local farmers.\n\nVisitors to the market can expect to find 
 locally reared ostrich meat\, pork\, beef\, lamb\; locally grown strawbe
 rries and vegetables\, plus locally produced cheeses\, chutney\, pies an
 d pasties.\n\nDue to the success and popular demand by both food produce
 rs and the public\, the farmers’ market is in town twice a month on the 
 second and fourth Saturday of every month at the Piazza\, by the sundial

  have been added to the already wide range of produce. The markets alway
