The Gratitude Train: Artifacts from the French Merci Train

Arts and Culture exhibit was recently expanded and includes some of the most popular items from the collection such as artwork, the wedding dress from Lyon and a Peugeot bicycle. In 1949, the Gratitude Train was sent by French citizens in response to the Friendship Train that America sent to them filled with food, clothing and fuel in 1947. The French sent 49 boxcars, one for each state, filled with gifts that were to be disbursed to the people of that state. The Gratitude Train: Artifacts from the French Merci Train

Arts and Culture exhibit was recently expanded and includes some of the most popular items from the collection such as artwork, the wedding dress from Lyon and a Peugeot bicycle. In 1949, the Gratitude Train was sent by French citizens in response to the Friendship Train that America sent to them filled with food, clothing and fuel in 1947. The French sent 49 boxcars, one for each state, filled with gifts that were to be disbursed to the people of that state. In 1949, the Gratitude Train was sent by French citizens in response to the Friendship Train that America sent to them filled with food, clothing and fuel in 1947.
