A commentary on "Jewel Ornament of Liberation" a beautiful, clearly translated text whose presentation illuminates our understanding of topics like buddha nature and bodhicitta.

People become Buddhists when they take refuge in the Buddha, dharma and sangha - the teacher, the teachings, and the community. At this intermediate level teaching Geshe Jamyang will explain the Three Jewels and the basis for taking refuge in them, he will also perform a refuge ceremony at the end of the course (bookings required). "Tribute to Al Jolson & The Jazz Singer" concert

Under the baton of Musical Director Ken Chadwick OAM, the Sunshine Coast Concert Band of approx. 40 members will feature some of the more popular Jolson songs, as well as a bit of Irish music (for St Patrick's Day enthusiasts), some Smoky Mokes Dixie, some Gershwin, the Quarterdeck March, even the classic "76 Trombones" the Todd and Josh Wynyard (father & son) trumpeters, a Clarinet Polka played by Charlie Simm, Laura Thomas and Lynn Jones, and also singers Aart Schouten, Alan Winter and Bev Gourlay. There will be "something for everyone" in this air-conditioned, comfortable, large venue.

If either French music or dancing is to your taste, come to the Sunshine Coast Concert Band's "April in Paris" Dance on Saturday 10th April at the Kawana Community Centre, Nanyima St. Buddina.
Apart from featuring many French tunes, this dance will introduce "New Vogue Dances" such as the Swing Waltz, Mayfair Quickstep, Barclay Blues, but there will still be the old style favourites of Gypsy Tap, Merilyn, Pride of Erin, rock'n roll, waltzes and foxtrots.
So whether you want to just listen to the toe-tapping sound of the big band (40 members) or dance the night away, why not organise a party of up to 12 people and book a table for just $120 - that's either 12 people @ $10 or 10 people @ $12.

After Sell out concerts all around Australia including Sydney's Opera House concert hall, the ultimate of all Pink Floyd experiences Beyond the Darkside returns to QLD Theatres, staging a two hour live spectacle that captures all the excitement of a Pink Floyd show. The Rogue Adventuregaine is a multisport rogaine involving trekking, mountain biking and kayaking in and around the area of Brisbane Forest Park. Involving mulitple legs of each discipline in an adventure race-style format, this event is sure to keep the mixed, male or female teams of 2 on their toes with stratergy and navigation playing just a big a role as pure fitness.
Racers have up to 25 hours to collect as many checkpoints as they can, allowing teams to select their own route choice, which means this race is accessible to competitors of all levels of ability. Kayaking equipement will be provided - all you need is a pair of runners, a pack with food and water and a mountain bike. Feast of the Three Saints

The Feast of the Three Saints is held every year in Silkwood, Australia. The Feast brings people together, in celebration, from all over North Queensland and beyond, occurring on the first Sunday in May.On Sunday, 2nd May, 2010 the Saints will celebrate 60 years in Australia. Plans are well underway for the Three Saints Committee Dinner, which is traditionally held on the Friday evening of the Anniversary weekend. Sunday will see Mass celebrated with the Bishop, the Solemn Procession through Silkwood and Mass with the Scalabrinian Father, followed by the Blessing and Veneration of the relics of the Three Saints. Details of the attending Celebrants are yet to be confirmed but the event promises to be a major highlight for the district.
Other festivities include a barbecue, with traditional Italian food, stalls and entertainment and, of course, 7.00 p.m. will herald the lighting of the night skies with a brilliant fireworks display. Everyone is welcome to attend.
