Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous
Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous (FA) is a 12-step fellowship based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). The growing group is comprised of thousands of women and men who have had trouble controlling their eating. Many adult and teen members were overweight, some by as much as 200 pounds. Others were dangerously underweight or controlled their eating to the point of obsession through anorexia, bulimia or over exercising. Today, many lead fulfilling lives without abusing food. 23 Annual Coyote Howl & Inaugural Car Show
This “howlarious” family-fun day-long event, sponsored by the Northern Mariposa County History Center, in downtown Coulterville, includes a colorful parade, car show, dinner dance, a variety of vendors and the Coyote Howling Competition. General admission to daytime events is free. Parade entry is $10; Car show entry is $30 pre-May 1st; $35 after that; vender booths $25.
Great sounds by “The Barn Dogs" will liven up the daytime scene, things get underway at 10 am, starting with the parade down Main Street. Vendor booths and the car show also open at that time. Child & Family Institute's 30th Anniversary Celebration
Community members are invited to Child & Family Institute’s 30th Anniversary Celebration. The free event will include a barbecue, beverages and entertainment. To participate, call (916) 736-0828 x153 by May 19.
Since 1978, Child & Family Institute has worked to overcome the impacts of child abuse and neglect to create a healthier and safer community for the children and families of Sacramento County. Each week, the group serves more than 400 at-risk children and their families, 200 students throughout Sacramento County school districts and 50 homeless children and families.
