The Karate Kid 30: A Special Screening Inside the Matadome

"The Karate Kid" was released on June 22, 1984, and since has left an indelible impression on millions of people around the world. Inspired by the 30th anniversary story by Jared Cowan in LA Weekly (http://bit.ly/1qA0SoY), community leaders from San Fernando Valley came together over an idea as epic as the movie: Why not host a screening of The Karate Kid inside the Matadome, the same location where the "All-Valley Karate Championship" was filmed? While the movie has been screened around the U.S. this year, it has yet to return to the San Fernando Valley -- until now. Join us on November 9, 2014 for a very special screening in celebration of the San Fernando Valley and the filmmakers who made it all possible. Immediately following the screening, we will hold a Q&A featuring director John G. Avildsen, screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen, and actor Martin "Sensei" Kove. The panel will be moderated by Jared Cowan. All proceeds from the film will benefit local youth-centered charitable organizations. More de… Sunday, November 9, 2014, 5:30 PM. The Commissioners are all from diverse backgrounds and geographic areas of the City of Los Angeles. The Commission holds regular public meetings the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Monday of each month and may also hold special meetings to conduct business. Sepulveda Basin Off Leash Dog Park Community Meeting

A new Park Advisory Board has been formed for the Sepulveda Basin Dog Park. The Advisory Board was formed so that people who use the Dog Park can meet with Recreation and Parks Officials and help shape the park's future uses, maintenance, and voice needs or concerns of the community. The Park Advisory Board met for the first time Jan. 18 and will meet every third Tuesday of the month at Balboa Recreation Center. The Sepulveda Dog Park is a very important resource for our community, offering dog owners a chance to let their canine friends get exercise in a big open space and have important social play with other dogs. We helped the users of the park form the Park Advisory Board as part of our support for the park and its users and to help ensure it remains clean, safe and well maintained. Every Third Tuesday of the Month Balboa Recreation Center 17015 Burbank Blvd. Encino You can learn more about the Sepulveda Basin Off Leash Dog Park by visiting http://laparks.com/dos/parks/facility/dogparks/s… Tuesday, January 20, 2015, 7:00 PM.
