Floyd Valley Hospital is hosting American Heart Association’s Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid course on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Conference Center Room #1. The cost for this course is $30.00, payable prior to the program.
The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child in the first few minutes until professional help arrives This class is taught by a certified American Heart Association instructor.

Floyd Valley Hospital will once again host the popular Babysitting Class on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the lower level Conference Center Room #1. The cost for this course is $15.00, which includes lunch, a snack, and materials. Pre-payment is necessary a week prior to the class. There are still openings in this session.
The Babysitting Class is for boys and girls ages 11 to 15. Subjects covered in class include: Safety, emergencies, feeding, diapering, bathing, bedtime, getting a babysitting job and pay scale.

Plainview Arts Council Christmas Tour of Homes
The Plainview Arts Council will host a Christmas Tour of six homes on Sunday, Nov. 22 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Cookies, cider and coffee will be served at Serendipity in downtown Plainview where tickets and maps will be available. No children under age 10 are permitted on the tour and no cameras are allowed. Plainview Arts Council members are admitted free with their season tickets with admission of $6 for adults and $3 for students charged for non-members. Soup Supper & Auction Benefit for Gala Padgett Schroeder
This Benefit is for a young wife and mother. Her name is Gala Padgett Schroeder, she lives in Early, Iowa. She was just married Sept. 13th and 2 wks later diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma. She also has an 11yr old son. Gala was in the later stages of the disease when it was discovered. It is a very aggressive cancer, so she is undergoing aggressive treatment. Her dad shaved her head at her request because she wasn't going to let the cancer decide where or when she was to lose her hair. Her 11yr old son also shaved his head to show his love and support for his mother. For questions about the two benefits call Garilyn Willoughby at 712-281-1765. We are trying to help the family defray the cost of everyday living, lodging, transportation, etc.... This family needs all the help and support we can get for them.
