The museum features a large stone fireplace built by George Sharp in 1922, incorporating stones of local geological and historic significance.
The Society exhibits collections of local samplers, coverlets, quilts, agricultural implements, early baskets, household utensils, and Civil War memorabilia. One of Society's most fascinating artifacts is the partial skeleton of a Mastodon discovered between 1962-65 during dredging of a bog at Camp Auxilium, Hampton Township.

The museum features a large stone fireplace built by George Sharp in 1922, incorporating stones of local geological and historic significance.
The Society exhibits collections of local samplers, coverlets, quilts, agricultural implements, early baskets, household utensils, and Civil War memorabilia. One of Society's most fascinating artifacts is the partial skeleton of a Mastodon discovered between 1962-65 during dredging of a bog at Camp Auxilium, Hampton Township.

The Barnyard Sanctuary, in partnership with Costco and CLR Solutions, is sponsoring its third electronics recycling event June 1 in the parking lot at Costco, Wharton, 315 New Jersey Route 15 from 10 am to 3 pm (Rain date-June 15). All unwanted electronics will be accepted, but the Barnyard will benefit financially from the drop off of CPUs, laptops, cell phones and computers. These funds will be used to support and care for homeless farm pet animals fostered by the Barnyard Sanctuary, a pet farm animal rescue non-profit organization located in Blairstown. This is a great way to safely dispose of unwanted electronics and help the animals!

'The Vespers' as they are sometimes known, have been praised as 'Rachmaninoff's finest achievement' and 'the greatest achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church'; written and first performed in 1915 so successfully, that it was performed five more times within a month. The Russian Revolution and the rise of the Soviet Union led to government condemnation of religious music. 'No composition represents the end of an era so clearly as this liturgical work. The museum features a large stone fireplace built by George Sharp in 1922, incorporating stones of local geological and historic significance.
The Society exhibits collections of local samplers, coverlets, quilts, agricultural implements, early baskets, household utensils, and Civil War memorabilia. One of Society's most fascinating artifacts is the partial skeleton of a Mastodon discovered between 1962-65 during dredging of a bog at Camp Auxilium, Hampton Township.

The Vernon Coalition grew out of a grass roots effort when concerned community members became mobilized following the drug overdose deaths of several young people a few years ago. A key group of community stakeholders approached the Center for Prevention and Counseling (CFPC) in Newton who applied for and received a five year Drug Free Communities (DFC) federal grant enabling Vernon to establish its own community-based drug free coalition. The Vernon Coalition meets monthly and volunteers conduct activities and campaigns to address community issues offering solutions and outcomes to effect change and growth toward reducing underage drinking and illegal drug use.

The Sussex County Historical Society is open to their members for genealogical research (Membership is $15.00 annually) The SCHS is open every Friday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and the second Saturday of the month 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. All residents are encouraged to join and visit our Historical Museum. The museum features a large stone fireplace built by George Sharp in 1922, incorporating stones of local geological and historic significance.
The Society exhibits collections of local samplers, coverlets, quilts, agricultural implements, early baskets, household utensils, and Civil War memorabilia. One of Society's most fascinating artifacts is the partial skeleton of a Mastodon discovered between 1962-65 during dredging of a bog at Camp Auxilium, Hampton Township.
