Hatha Vinyasa - no class 5/25
Pilates
with Temple Symonds
Hatha yoga, taken from the words referencing sun and moon, is closely related to vinyasa in two ways: The practice focuses on the asanas (poses) and pranayama (breath work). There may be longer holdings of specific poses to get into those places in the body that don’t get accessed nearly enough in our daily lives.
Built around the ancient practice of Sun Salutations, vinyasa classes can be anywhere from gentle to dynamic. In a typical vinyasa class, we will flow to inspiration with many variations of sun salutations including more continuous flow with the option of advanced poses. As always, modifications will be offered and I’ll encourage you to listen to your own body and take care as it feels appropriate.

Ashtanga Light - no class 5/27
Power Yoga
with Jack Lynch.
This is a challenging power-yoga-based practice which develops strength and endurance. It is based on the classical yoga system as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Class structure will be similar to the primary Ashtanga sequence in terms of tempo and posture progression. Modifications from the classical style will include selected position substitutions, posture variations offered, and alignment considerations. This method produces an intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The practice can be both athletic and meditative which results in improved circulation, a light and strong body and a calm mind.
Jack's bio:
Jack Lynch received his formal training from renowned teachers Beryl Bender Birch and David Swenson. These accomplished mentors have instilled in Jack a deep understanding of the ancient Ashtanga system (both first and second series), and imparted an abundance of skillful adjustment techniques.
Jack has also studied with Sri K.…

Hatha Vinyasa
Pilates
with Temple Symonds

Hatha Vinyasa
Pilates
with Temple Symonds
Temple Symonds, RYT 500 Bio:
Temple has been teaching yoga since 2005 at yoga studios in Connecticut and New York. She brings her reverence for the practice as well as her humor to her classes, and is very grateful to be back with Sacred Rivers Yoga. She is also a contr…

Hatha Vinyasa
Pilates
with Temple Symonds

Sacred Power (1 1/2 hour)
Power Yoga
with John Hauser
"Sacred Power" is a class for experienced practitioners who wish to immerse themselves in this demanding Sadhana which combines sun salutation variations with postures held for longer periods to develop strength and effect deep releases. Aggressive stretching of the low back, hamstrings and hips is emphasized and Yin techniques are often incorporated. There is much reference to the ultimate, traditional goal of Yoga - the end of duality and union with the Divine. Healing, meditation and self-improvement are topics of the chosen readings. Pilates
with Temple Symonds

3.5 CEU hours.

This ancient technique first appeared in the Upanishads, the sacred writings of Ancient India. Prana means "Universal intelligent life-force energy" and Dharana means "concentration". By learning to direct the Prana with your own concentration, you can send healing to any physical body part, any emotional/mental issue. We will learn this technique together, first by becoming totally relaxed using Yoga breathing and stretching, and then by focusing the mind using several specific Yogic techniques.
Doug received his spiritual name Shivaraj at a naming ceremony in the year-long Acharya Intensive, an ashram of 12 students invited to learn the teachings of Swami Kripalu. Shiva is a name for the aspect of life relating to transformation. Doug teaches that the process of transformation is one of "involution and evolution" whereby we compassionately accept and absorb into ourselves that which we habitually deny or avoid. By learning to accept all of these qualities as as…

Singing Bowls
Workshops
With Priscilla Gale
Sound vibration is the primary mover for change. Energy is not only pattern, it is vibration that has structure. Everything in and around our bodies resonates to sound. We all hold within our cells, blood, bones, organs, emotional and etheric bodies, the harmonious vibrational memory that is the organizational patterning for perfect health. Singing bowls have long been shown to strengthen the immune system, lower blood pressure, reduce stress, relieve pain, improve sleep patterns and help with depression and anxiety. Healing sound vibration creates a sense of well-being, feelings of peace, vitality, happiness, confidence along with more energy and clarity of thought. Balance is the key to the Bowls' power, and Priscilla works in true partnership with the bowls.
