First Congregational Church High School Choirs Tour

Arts & Entertainment The Alleluia Sound High School Choir and the Good Vibrations Handbell Choir from the First Congregational Church begin their 2015 tour in Barringon at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement. The Alleluia Sound Choir is directed by Ann Tucker, Director of Music. The Good Vibrations Handbell Choir is directed by Toni Gambini, Bellmaster. Accompanist is Jo Ann Black and Matt Potts will play percussion. The twenty-seven voice Alleluia Sound and 10-member Good Vibrations Handbell Choir is made up of students from Cary-Grove High School, Crystal Lake Central High School, Crystal Lake South High School, Jacobs High School, McHenry West High School, Prairie Ridge High School, Woodstock High School, and Wauconda High School. Barrington Sesquicentennial 1865 Street Festival

Arts & Entertainment Experience an exciting day in Barrington 1865! To celebrate 150 years, the Village will feature an 1865 Street Festival in downtown Barrington at Cook and Station Streets from 3:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. The event will transform the area into a historically themed extravaganza replete with old-time fanfare. There will be an extensive selection of small-plated fare, served by numerous local restaurants. This will include a pig roast, as well as other tasty treats of the era. In addition, Egg Harbor will be extending their hours for the day, as well. And Music!! It will be plentiful with performances by the Ragged Rascals, the BHS Jazz Band, and the Barrington Children’s Choir, as well as other groups. You can also enjoy an exciting array of street performers complete with a penny farthing cyclist, a juggler, barbershop quartets, and more. World's Largest Music Lesson

On April 26, the organizations are cohosting the World’s Largest Music Lesson at the High School, 616 W. Main St. We need 2,500 guitarists to join us and set the record. Native plants provide many advantages for gardeners and the environment. They do not require fertilizers or pesticides which saves gardeners both time and money. In addition, their deep, fibrous root systems firmly anchor soil to help conserve water and prevent erosion. Native plants do not require watering, but instead provide food and shelter for birds, butterflies and other wildlife. Native forbs (flowering plants) and grasses can be pre-ordered but will also be available on the day of the sale. Arts & Entertainment Amdur Productions and the Barrington Art Festival Invite Locals of All Ages to Participate In a Poster Contest to Commemorate Barrington’s 150th Anniversary What: To celebrate the Village of Barrington’s 150th anniversary, Amdur Productions and Barrington Village Hall are inviting community members to create an original poster that represents the Village of Barrington. The poster contest is free and open to the public now through April 20th at midnight. The winning entry will be adapted for use as a Barrington commemorative poster and sold at the festival. All entries, however, will be on display at the sixth annual Barrington Art Festival, produced by Amdur Productions, which runs Memorial Weekend, May 23rd and 24th.
