"When I'm 64"

Social Services The Barrington Area Council on Aging and the Barrington Area Library are sponsoring “When I’m 64,” a three-part workshop that will help guide sixty somethings as they look toward retirement. The workshops will be on Mondays from September 8 through September 22. Workshop 2 (September 15): Gabrielle Johnson will discuss transitions, with a focus on new lifestyle choices and plans for retirement. Johnson is an LCPC as well as a certified life coach and owns Advanced Direction, a private counseling practice in Crystal Lake. Workshop 3 (September 22): Michelle Sanfilippo will discuss keeping your brain healthy as you age. Sanfilippo is a physician’s assistant with the Neurosciences Institute at Alexian Brothers Hospital and works with Dr. Concetta Forchetti in the Memory Disorders Center. Mechanics from Marquardt of Barrington will conduct a 21-point inspection to check for basic safety and maintenance issues. The service is free, and no appointments are necessary; each inspection should last about 15 minutes. Participants will receive a written report that they can take to the mechanic who maintains their car. A Blue Star Memorial Marker has been placed at the Barrington Area Civil War Enlistment Site, located at the intersection of Old Sutton and Dundee Roads in Barrington Hills. The Council of Barrington Garden Clubs and the Village of Barrington Hill's joint application was accepted for the marker by the National Garden Clubs. The program was established as a way to pay tribute to "All who have served, are serving and will serve."
