Flint Creek Savanna Prairie Walk

Environment Citizens for Conservation is hosting its second season of Interactive Self-Guided Prairie Walks at Flint Creek Savanna, located at CFC's Headquarters, 459 W. Hwy 22 in Lake Barrington. The preserve is open free to the public the first Sunday afternoon of each month, June through September, 1:00-4:00 p.m. The walk on July 3rd will feature wildflowers on the prairie. You may also see a Great White Egret stalking prey in the pond, brilliant Indian Paintbrush or patches of pinkish blue Monarda. Be sure to wear good hiking shoes. Rock the Ride to benefit Ride for 3 Reasons 2017

Fundraisers & Benefits Mark your calendar for Rock The Ride, an all day music fest at the Barrington Brat Tent on Sunday, July 3rd. This event celebrates Ride for 3 Reasons 2017! Barrington resident, Bob Lee has passed the torch to Barrington High School junior, Jan Gierlach, who will embark on a 3,300 mile solo bike ride along the Southern Tier of the United States in February of 2017. He will ride for three causes: Cancer, ALS, and Hospice. Rock the Ride Sunday, July 3rd 1 p.m. – 10 p.m. Entrance is free all day, $5 after 5 p.m. for adults over 18. Citizens for Conservation to hold Youth Ed Creek Seining Class

Environment Take part in this ever popular class with seining expert and long-time CFC volunteer, Tom Vanderpoel. We will meet at CFC, drive to a local site, and use seining nets to see what is in the water. Will there be frogs, fish, mussels, larvae? Be prepared to get wet and muddy. Please dress according to the weather— layers are best. Water shoes/sandals/boots or shoes are required and must be worn at all times. Bring your own drinking water and use mosquito spray at home. This class is open to children ages 6 and older. Caregivers are required to attend. Meet at CFC headquarters, 459 West Highway 22, Lake Barrington. We are the white farmhouse across for Good Shepherd Hospital. Once the class has gathered, we will carpool to the site. Please not that there are no bathroom facilities once we leave CFC.
