Camerata 808

Under the direction of Drs. Polett and Hollinger, Camerata 808 is C-SC’s avant-garde chamber ensemble. Eclectic in its membership, the group models itself on intellectual gatherings in Renaissance Florence where ancient ideals met with futuristic ideas to hone the arts as the ultimate expression of a perfect society. Building on the radical interplay between speech, song, and drama that characterized the Renaissance Camerata, students and faculty from Culver-Stockton’s Music, Theatre, English, and Communications Departments examine pieces and poetry that reflect, if not that same ideal world of sound, then certainly a similarly intrepid one which tests the limits of performance art. Several original compositions will also debut at the May 8 concert, which starts precisely at the ensemble’s signature time: 8:08 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM. Merillat Recital Hall Culver-Stockton College Canton, MO.
