BOSTON— Members of the USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild will display their finest work in hopes of capturing the spotlight during the 31st annual show at the USS Constitution Museum. Models in the Spotlight opens to the public on Saturday, January 30th and will run through Saturday, March 20th. Admission to the Museum and the exhibit are free with donations welcome. The Museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
A total of 75 different ships created by modelers from across New England will be on display. Ranging from World War II vessels to fishing dories, ships-in-bottles to sailing vessels, these modelers have masterfully captured the richness of our maritime history in miniature. A panel of Guild members will judge qualifying entries, with awards being given to the top honorees.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino will kick-off the 235th Patriot’s Day Celebration in Boston on Monday morning, April 19, at 9:00AM with a Flag Raising Ceremony on City Hall Plaza. The Patriot’s Day Parade will march from City Hall Plaza and continue onto Kings Chapel on Tremont Street where there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the grave of William Dawes. The parade will proceed to the Old Granary Burial Grounds where a wreath will be laid at the grave of Paul Revere.
The annual ceremonies conclude with the re-enactment of the famous midnight ride of Paul Revere and William Dawes that occurred on April 18, 1775.
The re-enactment of Paul Revere’s ride occurs at the Paul Revere Mall on Hanover Street in front of the Old North Church at 10:00AM.
The re-enactment of William Dawes’ ride occurs at Eliot Square in Roxbury at 10:00AM.

The Charles River Watershed Association celebrates 28 years of canoe & kayak races on the Charles River at the Run of the Charles on Sunday, April 25! Professional, amateur and recreational canoe and kayak races include international, national, and local racers. More than 1,500 racers and thousands of spectators line the Charles River as the race winds through Dedham, Needham, Newton, Wellesley, Waltham and Boston to the free day-long Finish Line Festival at DCR’s Artesani Park, Soldiers Field Road, Brighton. Races include the $5000 Professional Flatwater Canoe Marathon, 24-Mile Canoe Relay Race for teams of ten, and 19-, 9- and 6-Mile canoe & kayak races.
The Run of the Charles Canoe & Kayak Race benefits the Charles River Watershed Association which has been working to protect the health and beauty of the Charles River since 1965. Entry fees range from $35 -$50 per paddler. The Free Finish Line Festival feat…
