"Impressions on Paper: Mary Baker Eddy, Writer"
The Library invites you to discover Mary Baker Eddy’s life through her groundbreaking writing. Eddy’s story flies in the face of convention, challenging the constraints of a time when women had few rights or opportunities. By the time of her passing, she was one of the most successful and influential women of her time and a world-renowned writer, speaker, and publisher. Discover all this in "Impressions on Paper."
The exhibit also brings Eddy’s Pleasant View study to life, through the original furnishings and objects that surrounded her. Author Talk: Brita Belli
Central Library
The alarming spike in autism in recent years has sent doctors and parents on a search for answers. Many controversies have erupted around the issue and many key concerns remain unexplored. The Autism Puzzle is the first book to address the compelling evidence that it is the pairing of environmental exposures with genetic susceptibilities that may be influencing the brain development of children. Journalist Brita Belli brings us into the lives of three families with autistic children, each with different ideas about autism. The Autism Puzzle puts a human face on the families caught between the debates, and offers a refreshingly balanced perspective. Belli is the editor of E – The Environmental Magazine, an independent magazine dedicated to green issues. She has appeared on numerous TV programs as an eco-expert and maintains a blog on autism and the environment at www.autismandtoxins.com.

RIBS CD Release Party
Public Event
The CD release show for RIBS' second EP, Russian Blood. "Kiss," the first single off the release, can be heard at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMzsT2cjrdg
The concert features RIBS, the Connecticut-based Suicide Dolls, and Berklee electronic duo The Yoga Girls, and takes place at TT the Bear's Place in Cambridge on Friday, May 25th. Doors open are at 8:30pm.
Self-released, self-produced, and self-recorded, RIBS has been called "Rock's great new hope" by the Boston Phoenix, "one of the most outstanding new acts in Boston right now," by Ryan's Smashing Life. The Boston Globe said: "There are cement-grinding atmospherics out of Trent Reznor's playbook and canyon banshee wails echoed from long-lost U2 anthems. 'Russian Blood' is thoroughly DIY—mixed at [Keith] Freund's apartment, recorded in their practice space—but it carries itself like a really big deal."
RIBS has been featured on WFNX and WZLX, as well as the video game Rock Band.
