Food for Thought: A Writing Workshop

Classes/Workshops Registration is required. Call/go online to register. Food is not only nourishing, it's evocative. What words and glances have passed across baskets of warm bread; what images are contained in the lunchboxes of our childhoods. This class is for those who would like to begin to write as well as those who already consider writing a pastime or profession. The subject of food is a rich source of memory, metaphor, and meaning. This class is for those who would like to begin to write as well as those who already consider writing a pastime or profession. The subject of food is a rich source of memory, metaphor, and meaning. As such, it offers writers from every field powerful tools for jumpstarting stories, deepening characters, enriching language, and propelling action. By releasing food writing from its confines in cookbooks and restaurant reviews, we'll explore ways to evoke not simply memory and wonder, but well-crafted stories that encourage the reader to come to the table and stay for the conversation. It is. But it’s very rewarding to get it right. Anne Bernays’ tenth novel, “The Man on the Third Floor,” will be published in November. She is co-author of “What If?
