Stanley Film Festival - Chapter II

This four-day event will celebrate the best in independent horror cinema with a full slate of films, panels, competitions, audience awards and special events - all at the beautiful and historically haunted Stanley Hotel. All screenings and receptions at the Stanley Film Festival will take place at The Stanley Hotel and throughout Estes Park at the Reel Mountain Theater and Historic Park Theatre. Spring Plant Sale

Denver Botanic Gardens’ annual Spring Plant Sale will take place Friday and Saturday, May 9-10, 2014, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. This is the Gardens’ largest plant sale and features a vast selection of annuals, perennials, fruits and vegetables, container gardens, hanging baskets, aquatics and more. Some of the plants are grown at the Gardens and one of the best perks of the sale is getting one-on-one tips and information from the horticulture staff. Admission to the sale and Gardens is free. Fair Trade Oriental Rug Event

The popular Fair Trade Oriental Rug Event returns this year from May 14-17. For just a few days, the Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E Alameda Ave. Denver will be home to more than 300 high quality hand-knotted Bunyaad rugs. This event is hosted by Ten Thousand Villages in Denver. These rugs are all hand-knotted in Pakistan by fairly paid adults. No child labor. Through the sale of these rugs, our non-profit store is working to support over 850 families in over 100 villages in Pakistan. Chihuly at Denver Botanic Gardens

Denver Botanic Gardens will present the Rocky Mountain Region’s first major outdoor exhibition of artwork by celebrated American artist, Dale Chihuly. The exhibition will be on view at the York street location June 14 – November 30, 2014. Informed by nature, each installation responds to surrounding plants, flowers and architecture. The Santa Fe International Folk Art Market

Every year, hundreds of artisan booths fill the streets of Museum Hill for the International Folk Art Market. This popular market has become the largest international folk art market in the world with more than 150 artists from 50 countries displaying and selling work in a variety of media.   All purchases help foster the arts by supporting the artists themselves, also boosting economic development in the communities across the globe. Friday an opening party will kick-off the market festivities from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Museum Hill. Saturday and Sunday the market will open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the event. Sunday tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the event.
