Hatch Valley Chile Festival

Head to Hatch for the annual Hatch Valley Chile Festival, August 30 and 31. The town that gives its name to this home-grown staple celebrates the harvest with chile and salsa cook-offs, mariachi competition and for those brave enough, a chile eating contest. White Sands International Film Festival

Now in its 10th year, this unique film festival focuses on independent films of all genres, illustrating contemporary issues through stories with quality writing, acting and direction. But setting itself apart from other film fests, WISFF retains a special focus on Latino and New Mexican film-making, as well as cinema shot in southern New Mexico. The festival seeks to promote the local film industry while developing lasting relationships within the international film community. From a 48-hour film shootout to a student short film promotional contest, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy and take part in. Other events shaping the festival include film workshops, galas, and screenings of more than 80 short and full-length feature films. The White Sands international Film Festival will take place at Allen Cineport10 in Las Cruces. Ticket prices are $28.50 for students, $75 for general admission and $150.11 for VIP All-Access Passes. Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta

The 24th annual Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta is a five-day event where 90 national wineries and 75 of the Santa Fe’s best restaurants converge to bring visitors an array of tasty experiences including cooking demos, wine seminars, winery luncheons and dinners. The fiesta ends with the Grand Tasting at the Santa Fe Opera where all participating restaurants and wineries sample their wares. One of the events, The SFWC Fiesta Live Auction raises money to sponsor culinary events in the community such as Santa Fe’s Cooking with Kids program and Santa Fe Restaurant Week. Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century

The Denver Art Museum (DAM) will be the sole venue worldwide for Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century, on view November 16, 2014–March 15, 2015. Organized by the DAM, the exhibition will feature an assortment of jewelry, timepieces and precious objects produced between 1900 and 1975. The exhibition highlights Cartier’s rise to preeminence in the midst of historical events as it transformed itself into one of the world’s most prestigious names in jewelry, timepieces and objects. A special section focused on masculine items will offer a rare look at the pieces Cartier crafted especially for men, including the modern wristwatch.
