Arts & Cultural Events Maya - A Thirty Year Retrospective: Photographs by Michael Plyler January 13 – April 2, 2012 Michael Plyler, a UNLV alumnus (class of 1977), presents a thirty year retrospective of his photographs of the Maya of Guatemala at the Barrick Museum on campus from January 13 - April 2, 2012. Join us for a photographic exploration of the changing lives of contemporary Mayan Indians, as seen through the lens of Michael Plyler’s camera. Plyler's black and white images record the beauty and resolute strength of this fascinating culture. Plyler's work spans the early eighties through 2008, including some of the most intense years of the civil war which plagued the country for thirty six years. Trained as an archaeologist, Plyler brings an anthropological perspective to his photography, and his work is in permanent collections throughout the Western hemisphere. Plyler's black and white images record the beauty and resolute strength of this fascinating culture. Plyler's black and white images record the beauty and resolute strength of this fascinating culture. Join us for a photographic exploration of the changing lives of contemporary Mayan Indians, as seen through the lens of Michael Plyler’s camera. Plyler's black and white images record the beauty and resolute strength of this fascinating culture. Plyler's work spans the early eighties through 2008, including some of the most intense years of the civil war which plagued the country for thirty six years. Trained as an archaeologist, Plyler brings an anthropological perspective to his photography, and his work is in permanent collections throughout the Western hemisphere. Arts & Cultural Events Maya - A Thirty Year Retrospective: Photographs by Michael Plyler January 13 – April 2, 2012 Michael Plyler, a UNLV alumnus (class of 1977), presents a thirty year retrospective of his photographs of the Maya of Guatemala at the Barrick Museum on campus from January 13 - April 2, 2012. Join us for a photographic exploration of the changing lives of contemporary Mayan Indians, as seen through the lens of Michael Plyler’s camera. Plyler's black and white images record the beauty and resolute strength of this fascinating culture. Plyler's work spans the early eighties through 2008, including some of the most intense years of the civil war which plagued the country for thirty six years. Trained as an archaeologist, Plyler brings an anthropological perspective to his photography, and his work is in permanent collections throughout the Western hemisphere.
