Exhibits & Galleries Watercolors by Michael Mendel A select group of watercolors by award-winning artist Michael Mendel. He has had a love affair with the Catskills for over seventy years and brings their beauty and charm to life in some of the vibrant paintings currently on exhibition here. Whether capturing on paper a rusting tractor, a scenic train ride or a towering oak, a lovely memory has been magically created. Mendel signs his paintings ZEPEL, memorializing a Swiss boy-doll he so much cherished as a very young child, but had to leave behind in Berlin Germany, when he with his parents fled the Nazi regime of Adolf Hitler in the Fall of 1938. Palladium Science Academy’s science demonstrations for kids

Kids' Activities The Gardiner Library will host the Palladium Science Academy’s science demonstrations for kids on two dates: Thursday August 21 is for children 4 to 6 years old and Friday August 22 is for children 7 to 10 years old. Windows On Main Street 2014

Community 2014 marks the tenth summer of Windows on Main Street, Beacon’s annual public art exhibition. In celebration, this year’s exhibition — WOMSX — will take on a competitive flair. Windows On Main Street 2014

Community 2014 marks the tenth summer of Windows on Main Street, Beacon’s annual public art exhibition. In celebration, this year’s exhibition — WOMSX — will take on a competitive flair. Exhibits & Galleries A new exhibit by the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Highlands. Among the items featured in this exhibit and on tour of the Captain David Crawford house, headquarters of the Newburgh Historical Society, is a beautifully crafted piano and a large bladed machine that is an early lawn mower. A wall display illustrates the placement of 18th to 19th century mills and factories that used the Quassaick Creek as a power source. Also, digital screens allow visitors to browse through old photographs and print ads. The Captain David Crawford House is open for tours between 1-4 p.m. on Sundays during the 2014 season. Windows On Main Street 2014

Community 2014 marks the tenth summer of Windows on Main Street, Beacon’s annual public art exhibition. In celebration, this year’s exhibition — WOMSX — will take on a competitive flair.
