Hospice of the Western Reserve Volunteer Education Series

Hospice of the Western Reserve is seeking volunteers to assist in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living communities, our two Hospice House locations, and hospital settings. As a vital part of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s team, volunteers come from all walks of life and have a variety of skills, talents and abilities. Opportunities to serve are diverse: visit patients and families to provide companionship, socialization, and comfort; help with legacy work, transportation, light housework, and meal preparation; run errands; make phone calls; help with clerical work; attend health fairs; make presentations. Volunteers with specialized professional qualifications and training are also needed: attorneys, licensed hair dressers, massotherapists, pet therapy dogs and their handlers. Friendship Animal Protective League's 7th Annual Wags to Riches Casino Night

This event assists our shelter in providing medical care to our animals, including spay and neuter costs. Friendship APL is a private, non-profit humane shelter which has been serving Lorain County for over 50 years. Our organization provides food, shelter and veterinary care for over three thousand orphaned cats, dogs and other companion animals. Last year, with the support and commitment of our business partners in Lorain County and Northeast Ohio, Friendship APL raised over $30,000 for medical costs. We hope to raise $40,000 this year, but we need your help to reach that goal! Hospice of the Western Reserve Volunteer Education Series

Hospice of the Western Reserve is seeking volunteers to assist in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living communities, our two Hospice House locations, and hospital settings. As a vital part of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s team, volunteers come from all walks of life and have a variety of skills, talents and abilities. Opportunities to serve are diverse: visit patients and families to provide companionship, socialization, and comfort; help with legacy work, transportation, light housework, and meal preparation; run errands; make phone calls; help with clerical work; attend health fairs; make presentations. Les Délices Presents a Free Family Concert, 'Flying High-Landing Hard!'

On Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 3pm, Les Délices presents a free family concert at the BOP STOP in Cleveland. This interactive concert-presentation titled “Flying High–Landing Hard,” tells the famous myth of Icarus, the young boy whose father built him a pair of wings made of feathers and wax. Featuring music by Handel, this program is recommended for children ages 5–15 and their families. Audiences members are encouraged to illustrate the story of Icarus and/or to wear their own set of wings to the show! The 45-minute program will introduce historical instruments including the baroque oboe, baroque violin, viola da gamba, and theorbo (a long-necked lute). Hospice of the Western Reserve is seeking volunteers to assist in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living communities, our two Hospice House locations, and hospital settings. 2016 Geneva Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge

The 20th annual Geneva-Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge will be held on Saturday, February 27th at Geneva-on-the-Lake State Park’s Breakwater Beach. As part of the Polar Plunge experience, participants obtain monetary pledges to earn the privilege of running into the frigid waters of Lake Erie. HMC Hospice of Medina County Volunteer Education Series

HMC Hospice of Medina County, a Hospice of the Western Reserve affiliate, is seeking volunteers to assist in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living communities, our three Hospice House locations, and hospital settings. As a vital part of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s team, volunteers come from all walks of life and have a variety of skills, talents and abilities. Opportunities to serve are diverse: visit patients and families to provide companionship, socialization, and comfort; help with legacy work, transportation, light housework, and meal preparation; run errands; make phone calls; help with clerical work; attend health fairs; make presentations. Family Pinewood Derby at the Y

Children and their families are invited to create a racecar and compete in the Lake County YMCA Pinewood Derby on Saturday, February 27 at 5:30 pm at the Central Y, 933 Mentor Ave in Painesville. Register children by February 12 for ample time to build a new racecar (with help from their parents). Racecar and participation guidelines are available for download at www.lakecountyymca.org. Dewey's Pizza School
