Amateur Radio Field Day

Amateur radio operators ("hams") from the Cuyahoga Falls Amateur Radio Club will participate in the annual Field Day exercise sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) this weekend, June 25-26, at the Silver Springs Park in Stow. The national event will begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday and run continuously until 2:00 PM on Sunday. The Falls club, using the call sign W8VPV, will simulate disaster conditions and use only temporary antennas and emergency power while making contacts on five different frequencies with other stations across the United States and Canada. The club annually ranks among the leaders in number of stations worked. The public is invited to visit the test site, located near the ball fields off the Young Road entrances, during the hours of operation. Race for Kids

At the end of every school day in Cleveland, over 900 kids make their way to the nearest Boys & Girls Club. Upon arrival, kids are greeted by caring staff; provided with homework help; offered world-class programming in graphic design, ballet, urban farming, athletics, workforce development and more; and given a nutritious, hot meal. Put simply, Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland aims to change -- and in some cases, save -- the lives of Cleveland's kids. BGCC is dedicated to making a strong, lasting impact on Cleveland's future, beginning with the city's most vulnerable youth. The Race for Kids, presented by Medical Mutual, is a 5k run and 1 mile walk that raises funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland and the 8,000 kids BGCC serves each year. 4th Annual Cleveland Big Wheel Relay

The 4th annual Cleveland Big Wheel Relay is a family-friendly day of fun to support the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center. Cult Classic “Little Shop of Horrors” Comes to The Fine Arts Association

The Fine Arts Association is pleased to present the cult classic musical “Little Shop of Horrors” in the Corning Auditorium on weekends in June, beginning on June 10. “Little Shop of Horrors” is a horror comedy rock musical that features a nerdy florist who finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed. Based on the 1960 film by Roger Corman and screenplay by Charles Griffith, “Little Shop” features music composed in the styles of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown. Cult Classic “Little Shop of Horrors” Comes to The Fine Arts Association

The Fine Arts Association is pleased to present the cult classic musical “Little Shop of Horrors” in the Corning Auditorium on weekends in June, beginning on June 10. “Little Shop of Horrors” is a horror comedy rock musical that features a nerdy florist who finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed. Hospice of the Western Reserve Volunteer Education Series

Hospice of the Western Reserve is seeking volunteers to assist in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living communities, our three Hospice House locations, and hospital settings. As a vital part of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s team, volunteers come from all walks of life and have a variety of skills, talents and abilities. Opportunities to serve are diverse: visit patients and families to provide companionship, socialization, and comfort; help with legacy work, transportation, light housework, and meal preparation; run errands; make phone calls; help with clerical work; attend health fairs; make presentations. Violence: Its Causes, Consequences and Cures

Hospice of the Western Reserve Volunteer Education Series

Hospice of the Western Reserve is seeking volunteers to assist in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living communities, our three Hospice House locations, and hospital settings. As a vital part of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s team, volunteers come from all walks of life and have a variety of skills, talents and abilities. Opportunities to serve are diverse: visit patients and families to provide companionship, socialization, and comfort; help with legacy work, transportation, light housework, and meal preparation; run errands; make phone calls; help with clerical work; attend health fairs; make presentations. Hospice of the Western Reserve is seeking volunteers to assist in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living communities, our three Hospice House locations, and hospital settings. As a vital part of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s team, volunteers come from all walks of life and have a variety of skills, talents and abilities. Opportunities to serve are diverse: visit patients and families to provide companionship, socialization, and comfort; help with legacy work, transportation, light housework, and meal preparation; run errands; make phone calls; help with clerical work; attend health fairs; make presentations. Music in the Valley Folk & Wine Festival
