$100K ESSAY CONTEST: Stop the Hate®: Youth Speak Out

Submitted Free What can students do to create a more inclusive future? That question is at the core of the Stop the Hate®: Youth Speak Out, an annual contest sponsored by the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage that encourages social responsibility while fostering an appreciation for people of diverse backgrounds. Private, public, online and home-schooled students (grades 6-12) in the Ohio counties of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit are invited to submit 500-word essays describing a real-life act of discrimination they experienced or witnessed and detailing creative ways they can help end discrimination and indifference in their communities. And for 15 students and three schools there’s a real reward for being a voice for positive change—$100,000 in cash prizes and scholarships. Deadline for entries is 11:59pm on Thursday, January 29, 2015 for students in grades 6-10 and Thursday, February 26, 2015 for students in grades 11-12. During the subsequent two decades, Nazi leaders showed the word bold new ways to use this tool. In examining how the Nazis manipulated mass communications in their quest to acquire power, State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda challenges museum-goers to think critically about the messages they encounter today. Submitted Our Saturday Nights Service starts at 6:00 pm every Saturday, and usually goes till about 7:30 pm. We have a time of singing worship where a couple different worship teams, as well as guest worship teams, lead worship and rotate different weeks. It definitely is a very laid back atmosphere with some darker lighting and stage lighting. Currently, we are in a series on Miracles where we are talking about the miracles of Jesus, as well as, praying for and believing in miracles in our own lives. We love to optimize different media through the use of announcement videos, as well as communication through social media. We have a nursery and a Saturday Nights Kids ministry for kids up to 12 where they spend time learning about Jesus and get to understand that lesson played out in different activities. Submitted Ed Caner has performed as a sideman for over 50 major acts. He is also a founding member of his own band, Hey Mavis. Saturday Nights

Submitted Our Saturday Nights Service starts at 6:00 pm every Saturday, and usually goes till about 7:30 pm. We have a time of singing worship where a couple different worship teams, as well as guest worship teams, lead worship and rotate different weeks. It definitely is a very laid back atmosphere with some darker lighting and stage lighting. Currently, we are in a series on Miracles where we are talking about the miracles of Jesus, as well as, praying for and believing in miracles in our own lives. We love to optimize different media through the use of announcement videos, as well as communication through social media. We have a nursery and a Saturday Nights Kids ministry for kids up to 12 where they spend time learning about Jesus and get to understand that lesson played out in different activities. Saturday Nights

Submitted Our Saturday Nights Service starts at 6:00 pm every Saturday, and usually goes till about 7:30 pm. We have a time of singing worship where a couple different worship teams, as well as guest worship teams, lead worship and rotate different weeks. It definitely is a very laid back atmosphere with some darker lighting and stage lighting. Currently, we are in a series on Miracles where we are talking about the miracles of Jesus, as well as, praying for and believing in miracles in our own lives. We love to optimize different media through the use of announcement videos, as well as communication through social media. We have a nursery and a Saturday Nights Kids ministry for kids up to 12 where they spend time learning about Jesus and get to understand that lesson played out in different activities. Submitted Our Saturday Nights Service starts at 6:00 pm every Saturday, and usually goes till about 7:30 pm. We have a time of singing worship where a couple different worship teams, as well as guest worship teams, lead worship and rotate different weeks. Currently, we are in a series on Miracles where we are talking about the miracles of Jesus, as well as, praying for and believing in miracles in our own lives. We love to optimize different media through the use of announcement videos, as well as communication through social media. We have a nursery and a Saturday Nights Kids ministry for kids up to 12 where they spend time learning about Jesus and get to understand that lesson played out in different activities. That question is at the core of the Stop the Hate®: Youth Speak Out, an annual contest sponsored by the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage that encourages social responsibility while fostering an appreciation for people of diverse backgrounds. Private, public, online and home-schooled students (grades 6-12) in the Ohio counties of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit are invited to submit 500-word essays describing a real-life act of discrimination they experienced or witnessed and detailing creative ways they can help end discrimination and indifference in their communities. And for 15 students and three schools there’s a real reward for being a voice for positive change—$100,000 in cash prizes and scholarships. Deadline for entries is 11:59pm on Thursday, January 29, 2015 for students in grades 6-10 and Thursday, February 26, 2015 for students in grades 11-12.
