Nia: Music-Inspired Conditioning Practice

Classes/Workshops Nia is a sensory-based movement practice for all body types, cultivating the joy of movement to integrate the mind, body, emotions, and spirit. No previous dance or movement experience is necessary. Nia blends nine specific movement forms from dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts. A typical class may warm up with slow t’ai chi-like movements, then build energy in a playful jazzy style, reach an aerobic peak with kicks and punches, cool down with a modern dance flow, and end with yoga-inspired stretches and relaxation. Throughout the class, the instructor gives simple verbal or postural cues for the steps. Choreography is interspersed with non-structured movement for a blend of form and freedom. Participants are always invited to tailor their experience to their particular somatic needs and preferences—that is, to move their body’s way. Throughout the class, the instructor gives simple verbal or postural cues for the steps. Choreography is interspersed with non-structured movement for a blend of form and freedom. Pints for a Purpose WaterWatch of Oregon Fundraiser

Fundraisers Come enjoy a beer in Ashland while supporting WaterWatch! We're thrilled to be selected as a beneficiary of Standing Stone Brewing Company's "Pint for a Purpose" program! In Standing Stone's Pints for a Purpose program, they bestow a portion of beer profits on a special evening to a nonprofit that aligns with their mission to enhance environmental sustainability, local food, education and/or community. Our benefit evening is Tuesday, December 2nd. On that night, Standing Stone will donate $2 to WaterWatch for every pint of beer sold in the brewpub from 5p-10p! Please join us in drinking beer for a good cause! We encourage you, your friends and family to celebrate with us and savor a pint, or a pitcher, responsibly—know your limit, balance it out with food, and don't drink and drive. Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol

Theater Douglas Rowe returns this year to show a surprising new side of an old friend when he reads Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol by Tom Mula. This headlong, hilarious romp through the gritty side of Victorian Christmases is a tale of redemption and remorse, the fear of loss and the joy of love, and the way we can find our own salvation in our care of others. Whether your introduction to Scrooge was from the book, the black-and-white movie with Alastair Sim, or the musical madness of Michael Caine and the Muppets, everyone is familiar with the story. The Two Billion Dollar Question

Community Climate change is hurting Oregonians. Pollution affects our health, economy, and infrastructure. Out-of-state corporations profit from dirty energy and leave us with the bill. The simplest way to hold them accountable and create energy choices is to put a price on carbon. This common-sense policy is essential for healthy communities, a clean energy economy and a stable climate. Dozens of countries have adopted the solution, and it’s supported by the overwhelming majority of economists across the political spectrum. A well-designed carbon price has the power to make our constant battles over subsidies and regulations redundant. But if Oregon charges a fee to pollute, who should get the revenue? An effective fee could bring $2 billion of revenue to our state every year. How would you spend $2 billion? Should we invest in education? Cut taxes? Repair infrastructure? Should we return the revenue back to Oregonians as a “Kicker”? Or put it away for a rainy day? Or do we give subsidies to clean energy projec… Cost: Free. Region: Medford. The $2 Billion Question

Political Events Oregon Climate, a local non-profit, will hold an interactive forum on December 7 to discuss the risks and opportunities our state must navigate as it considers a policy in the 2015 legislative session  is a ‘pay-to-pollute policy’ that reduces greenhouse gasses without complex subsides or regulations. If Oregon charges a fee to pollute, who should get the revenue?  An effective fee could bring $2 billion of revenue to our state every year.  How would you spend $2 billion? Join us at KOBI-TV to hear from panelists, ask questions, and make your voice heard as we make the case for Oregonian leadership through this most challenging global dilemma.
