Allison Hunter: Slower Still opening reception

Arts-Dance-Theater Women & Their Work proudly presents Slower Still, a solo photography exhibition by Houston-based artist Allison Hunter. In Hunter’s digitally manipulated photographs, zoo animals are shown divested of their everyday settings and recontextualized in surreal surroundings. Removed from their enclosures yet still ‘caught,’ framed in abstract washes of light and color, Hunter’s eerily prescient animals are far from pastoral. Allison Hunter received her Diplôme (MFA equivalent) from the Ecole Cantonale d'Art in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1990. She has shown her photography and video work throughout the United States, Canada and Europe and participated in numerous international artist residencies. Hunter received an Individual Artist Grant from the Houston Art Alliance in 2006, and her work resides in the perm… Thursday, May 15, 2008, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Women & Their Work Gallery.
