The course will cover information about schizophrenia, the mood disorders (bipolar disorder and major depression), panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); coping skills such as handling crisis and relapse; basic information about medications; listening and communication techniques; problem-solving skills; recovery and rehabilitation; and self-care around worry and stress. Peer-to-Peer is a nine meeting two-hour recovery course, taught by a team of trained "Mentors" who are personally experienced at living well with mental illness. Participants come away from the course with a binder full of tangible resources: an advance directive; a "relapse prevention plan" to help identify feelings, thoughts, behaviors, or events that may warn of impending relapse. Pilchuck Audubon Society October Program Meeting

Marysville Globe The October Program Meeting will be about Vaux's Happening Project" by Larry Schwitters. This project promotes the conservation of migrating Vaux's Swifts by raising awareness of the spectacular roosting events this species displays at a limited number of large trees and old masonry structures on the Pacific Flyway. Since its beginning in the spring of 2008, the project has documented over eight million individual roosting events in the U.S. Canada and Mexico. Marysville Globe Agata Zubel, a Polish composer and singer, has been hailed by The New York Times as an important new voice in contemporary music, whose works are captivating and remarkable worlds of sound for the 21st century. Ms. Zubel’s talk will be dedicated to her own compositions with a focus on their vocal aspects. On October 28, 2016, Ms. Zubel will perform her Chapter 13 at the Benaroya Hall concert and her orchestral work recently commissioned by Seattle Symphony will be performed on October 27 and 29, 2016. Agata Zubel was born and studied in Wrocław, Poland, where she obtained a doctorate in 2004 and currently is on the faculty of the Academy of Music in Wrocław. She has given many concerts in Europe and the US, working together with famous modern music ensembles including London Sinfonietta, Eighth Blackbird Ensemble, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and Seattle Chamber Players. NAMI Peer to Peer Mental Health Recovery Class

Peer to Peer is a a unique, learning program for people with any serious mental illness who are interested in establishing and maintaining their health and wellness on their journey to recovery. The course was written by Kathryn Cohan McNulty, a person with a psychiatric disability who is also a former provider and manager in the mental health field in consultation with an advisory board of individuals with mental illness. Peer-to-Peer is a nine meeting two-hour recovery course, taught by a team of trained "Mentors" who are personally experienced at living well with mental illness. Participants come away from the course with a binder full of tangible resources: an advance directive; a "relapse prevention plan" to help identify feelings, thoughts, behaviors, or events that may warn of impending relapse.
