4-Season Gardening in the San Juans
San Juan Island Grange #966 is sponsoring a program on 4-Season Gardening in the San Juans with Keith Keyser. Wednesday June 19, 2013 at the Grange Hall, the program begins at 7pm, preceded by a potluck at 6pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. This workshop will address structural season extenders and enhancers, as well as crop selection and timing to provide year-round gardening success. For 3 years Keith Keyser has taught the 8-week class “Grow what you eat where you live” at Skagit Valley Community College. He has been a successful organic gardener in the PNW since 1975. In 1997, as a master gardener, he co-designed the Native Plant demonstration garden at the San Francisco Street bakery in Olympia. He also works as a landscape/gardener and finds that an increasing portion of his business is being devoted to installing and maintaining vegetable gardens for his customers.
This is the latest in a series of free presentations hosted by San Juan Island Grange on food, gardening and other topics…

WaterWorks gallery
WaterWorks Gallery is pleased to present the oil paintings of Jamie Ellsworth and the bronze & mixed media sculptures of Barbara Duzan. Both artists, multiple dog owners themselves, convey the love of their canine friends with unique styles that exude of love and humor.

Barbara Duzan, amazes us with her artistic versatility, whether she is beading an animal form that hangs on the wall, mixing up the plaster of Paris for her mixed media works or is modeling the clay for a new bronze casting, Barbara continues her exploration in all these…

Art History Lecture Series with Tory Raggett
Three-part series looking at different types of art and different ways to appreciate and understand art. Ms. Raggett will be looking at early 20th century Canadian nature art, the American realism movement, and art just for it’s looks. Sign up by calling or dropping by the front desk in the library.
June 11, Canada’s Group of Seven: Painting in the Raw, describes the way in which a group of painters based in Toronto, developed an interest in creating a new, dynamic approach to painting Canada’s vast and dramatic wilderness. The early part of the 20th century was an exciting time to be an artist anywhere, and that was definitely true in Canada.

Work the jig saw puzzle or needlework while you listen and share feedback. Contact Beth Helstien, the outreach coordinator, for more information.

WaterWorks Gallery is pleased to present the oil paintings of Jamie Ellsworth and the bronze & mixed media sculptures of Barbara Duzan. Both artists, multiple dog owners themselves, convey the love of their canine friends with unique styles that exude of love and humor.
