Gypsy jazz quintet Ranger and the ‘Re-Arrangers’ will perform with guitarist Neil Andersson.
Andersson is one of the Northwest's premier guitarists. In the 1960's, he played with the Northwest rock group, the Fabulous Wailers. In 1986 he was elected to the Northwest Music Awards Hall of Fame, and in the 1990’s he co-founded the seminal Gypsy jazz band Pearl Django. His projects include Malibu Manouche, blending Gypsy jazz and surf music.
The concert will feature music from Ranger and the ‘Re-Arrangers’ repertoire of American swing standards, traditional Gypsy melodies, and the music of Django Reinhardt. Young violinist Ranger Sciacca will provide the counterpoint to Andersson’s improvisations.

Peyton Manning, 12, a 6th grader at Thunder Mountain Middle School, spent his first Mother’s Day unexpectedly, without her. Kristina Louise Holdburg passed away April 11, 2013 after a long battle with juvenile diabetes. Peyton and his father, James, a recent donor recipient, take up the challenge of honoring her memory and strive for a wonderful future for Peyton.

Bastyr University's 15th Annual Herb and Food Fair
Join Bastyr University at the annual Food and Herb Fair, with this year’s theme being “Everything Old Is New Again”. A free event that brings thousands of visitors to the Kenmore campus, the gardens are blooming and the campus forest buzzing with new life, it's a great time to soak up spring colors and learn about the endless uses of plants. Come hear great speakers, go on guided walks through the Bastyr gardens and surrounding woods, attend workshops and cooking demos, listen to music, and partake in relaxing herbal foot soaks and facials.

Pioneer Park has 6.6 miles of trails for hiking, running and walking. Letterboxing is a fun way to explore the outdoors on Mercer Island! Letterboxes are hidden in Pioneer Park, and it’s your job to find them. Follow the clues through the forest, and make a print of the hidden stamps in your Clue Book.
Letterboxing is FUN and challenging! Following these steps to get started:

Did you know there is a farm located at the South Treatment Plant in Renton? The farm is lcoated at 1200 Monster Road S.W. Renton, WA 98057. King County has partnered with Seattle University and the Renton Food Bank and started a small farm in your neighborhood. For over a year, this farm has been operated by Seattle University students and the food grown here has been donated to the Renton Food Bank.
We are now offering public work parties for anyone who is interested in helping out on the farm or learning about urban farming. Public work parties start on Sunday, May 5th, and will run every first and third Sunday from 9:30AM- 1PM. All skill levels and youth with parents are welcome. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work with King County employees, Seattle University students, and their fellow community members. The Beatles may not have been performing their legendary music for nearly 44 years, but it is far from gone from the world music scene.
Imagine "Remembering The Fab Four" – a classy Beatles tribute band – comes to the area for two shows: 7 PM Saturday June 15th and 2 p.m. Sunday, June. 16 both at The Theatre at Mountainview in Auburn/Kent..
The band has been performing the music of the Beatles for more than 20 years, nearly three times as long as the Beatles themselves. The Beatles may not have been performing their legendary music for nearly 44 years, but it is far from gone from the world music scene.
Imagine "Remembering The Fab Four" – a classy Beatles tribute band – comes to the area for two shows: 7 PM Saturday June 15th and 2 p.m. Sunday, June. 16 both at The Theatre at Mountainview in Auburn/Kent..
The band has been performing the music of the Beatles for more than 20 years, nearly three times as long as the Beatles themselves. Did you know there is a farm located at the South Treatment Plant in Renton? The farm is located at 1200 Monster Road S.W. Renton WA 98057. King County has partnered with Seattle University and the Renton Food Bank and started a small farm in your neighborhood. For over a year, this farm has been operated by Seattle University students and the food grown here has been donated to the Renton Food Bank.
We are now offering public work parties for anyone who is interested in helping out on the farm or learning about urban farming. Public work parties start on Sunday, May 5th, and will run every first and third Sunday from 9:30AM- 1PM. All skill levels and youth with parents are welcome. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work with King County employees, Seattle University students, and their fellow community members. This is also a great opportunity for local students who need service learning opportunities!

Kidney Health Fest for African American Families
Northwest Kidney Centers will hold its 11th annual Kidney Health Fest for African American Families on Saturday, June 22, 2013. The free event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Van Asselt Elementary (formerly the African American Academy), 8311 Beacon Ave. S. in Seattle, on Metro Route 106. Everyone is welcome to attend. Isaiah Thomas Youth Skills Basketball Academy
Isaiah Thomas is presenting his 2nd Annual Elite Skills Clinic at the Issaquah Community Center. Come receive personal instruction from one of the greatest Washington Huskies of all time! Hone your skills with Isaiah and a collection of the area's best local coaches. Isaiah will be present for 12 hours of the 3 day clinic!
Isaiah will not just be stopping in to shake a few hands, he will be involved hands on during the entire clinic. Our coaches include current/former University of Washington players as well as other former college and pro players that have been coaching at additional Elite Sports Camps around the country.
Each camper will receive an official Isaiah Thomas Hoops T-shirt and a signed 8 x 10 photo. This event is for hoopers of all skill levels boys & girls from the ages of 6-16. Lower baskets will be available for younger participants.

Dan and Pat Howard, owners of Howard/Mandville Gallery, are celebrating 23 years as one of the premier dealers of fine art in the Puget Sound region. The gallery is known to collectors throughout the region and beyond for discovering exciting emerging talent as well as showcasing nationally acclaimed artists. This year’s show will feature several new works by each of the gallery’s roster of more than 50 artists and will open with a preview reception on Friday, June 7th from 6-8pm and run through July 7th.
Pat Howard says, “We are very excited to not only be unveiling new works of art this year but to also be unveiling a new look for the gallery. We will be completing a remodel with new walls, floor coverings and colors, just in time for the show.”.
