Dinah Satterwhite at Issaquah Art Walk

Ms. Satterwhite is from Bainbridge Island, and will showcase her beautiful new series of metal prints called “Into the Light.” The images are more art than photo, and many people think they are paintings. The work captures Mother Nature in a tender and otherworldly way. They are somewhat abstract, with a beautiful infusion of movement and light. From landscapes and coastal scenes, to intimate close-ups — the final image only hints at its true source. Even the name of each photo series intertwines nature with technology, like “Vertical Download,” “Shutter Chance,” and “Forest Map.” Ms. Satterwhite paints with her camera using available light and manual camera settings, often shooting 1000+ images to find the one that captures the desired emotion, color, quality, and flow of light. Glamp Weekend

Calling All Adult Women – You Are Wanted at Glamp Weekend! Ask a grown woman about the types of summertime fun she experienced as a girl, and chances are, camp is the first thing she’ll mention. Her memories probably include fun like hiking, canoeing and archery; s’mores and songs around the campfire; and the great friendships she made. Ask her if she has had similar experiences as an adult, and she will probably start to look a little sad. Sure, the Pacific Northwest is a spectacular place for communing with nature and friends, but adults don’t get to go to sleep-away camp like kids do. Most women send their daughters to camp and wish they could go, too. Now they can! Only now, they can go with their adult girlfriends (or make new ones), enjoy a camp-inspired farm-to-table meal, drink wine and cider around a campfire while eating gourmet s’mores, and even get a massage. Plus, they can participate in camp activities like archery, canoeing, hiking and climbing. Join over 100 women, including loc… Category: Organizations. Outdoor. Sports & Recreation. Cost: 250. Frank Portman- King Dork

Since its release in 2006, King Dork, Frank Portman's original novel about a geeky teenage boy dealing with the tortures and humiliations of high school—all while trying to solve a half a dozen mysteries (including the one surrounding his father's death), track down a mysterious girl he met at a party, and start a rock band—has become a cult classic. What makes King Dork even more fun is that Portman recorded five of the book's original songs, as if he were Tom, the book's main character. If we're lucky, Portman might even perform a few when he joins us for a reading and signing of the hilarious pop culture critique and heartfelt story that put him on the map. Who knows? He might also give us a sneak peek of the King Dork sequel due out later this year! Category: Arts & Entertainment. Audience: Teens. Dads. Moms. Cost: Free.
