50th Annual Driftwood Sculpture Show
The Northwest Driftwood Artists are celebrating their 50th Annual Driftwood Show on Saturday May 18th and Sunday, May 19th, 2013 from 10:00am until 5:00pm each day. The juried show will feature over 100 driftwood sculptures which are finished using the LuRon Method. A unique piece of "found" wood is cleaned, scraped and sanded, burnished and then waxed to a fine finish. Each artist spends hundreds of hours to transform their found wood into a fine piece of art.
The event will be held at the Courtyard Hall at Country Village 23718 7th Ave SE, Bothell, WA. The event is FREE and cameras are most welcome. There will also be a historical display, demonstrations, raw wood, and small tools for sale. Bastyr University's 15th Annual Herb and Food Fair
Join Bastyr University at the annual Food and Herb Fair, with this year’s theme being “Everything Old Is New Again”. A free event that brings thousands of visitors to the Kenmore campus, the gardens are blooming and the campus forest buzzing with new life, it's a great time to soak up spring colors and learn about the endless uses of plants. Come hear great speakers, go on guided walks through the Bastyr gardens and surrounding woods, attend workshops and cooking demos, listen to music, and partake in relaxing herbal foot soaks and facials.
The event is free and open to the public. Visitors can also park for free at the Kenmore Park and Ride (at 7346 N.E. Bothell Way) and take the free Bastyr shuttle directly to the Herb and Food Fair. 2013 Juried Artist Series: On The Edge
Allied Arts of Whatcom County kicks off the 2013 Juried Artist Series with On the Edge featuring work from Andy Siebert, Ann Marie Cooper, Chris Shreve, Doug Forrest and Taj Williams. The opening reception will be held during the Downtown Art Walk, Friday, June, 7th from 6pm to 9pm.
On The Edge will be an exhibit of bold, loud colors and patterns in a variety of media all working together in a harmonious display of works that push the envelope. Painting, drawing, and clay are all tools for the expression of the artists.

Kidney Health Fest for African American Families
Northwest Kidney Centers will hold its 11th annual Kidney Health Fest for African American Families on Saturday, June 22, 2013. The free event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Van Asselt Elementary (formerly the African American Academy), 8311 Beacon Ave. S. in Seattle, on Metro Route 106. Everyone is welcome to attend. The fest will feature free health screenings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an educational program from 10 a.m. to noon with Chris B. Bennett of KRIZ/KZIZ Radio as emcee. 24th Annual Chris-Craft Rendezvous
The 24th Annual Chris-Craft Rendezvous, July 11-14, 2013, will be held at Port Orchard City Marina in the historic town of Port Orchard, Washington. Up to 80 classic Chris-Crafts are expected to attend. Entry for visitors to the events on the docks and to see the boats is free. Daily features are; live music, dock parties and touring of boats, a raffle, a farmers market, seminars, swap meet and demonstrations. Additionally for registrants, there will be coffee and doughnuts every morning, a Friday BBQ dinner, an awards banquet and live auction on Saturday, and a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning. Based on an overwhelming success of last year’s festival, the vibrant Polish-American community is proud to present their second annual festival at Seattle Center. This summer’s event on July 13, 2013 will celebrate Polish cultural traditions and contemporary achievements with wide audiences of the Pacific Northwest.
The program features live performances of Polish folk groups, piano and jazz artists, modern dance, poster art exhibit, cultural workshops, food demos, children’s activities and participatory dance. Presented this year again will be Folk Fashion Show with regionally inspired costumes from Poland. Booths will showcase Polish glass art, hand-crafted pottery from Boleslawiec, crystal, jewelry, and cut-out paper art, as well as information about local Polish-American community organizations and travel to Poland for business and pleasure. Bainbridge in Bloom
Mark your calendars! The Bainbridge Island Arts & Humanities Council will present its 25th annual Bainbridge in Bloom garden tour on July 12 and 13, 2013 (10am – 5pm). One of the Pacific Northwest’s premier garden tours, the Bloom is also the nonprofit Bainbridge Island Arts & Humanities Council’s primary annual fundraiser.
This year’s tour will feature five Bainbridge gardens, beautifully distinct from each other but collectively underscoring the island’s standing as a national gardeners’ Eden.
Friday’s special Preview Day will be a quieter opportunity to take a self-paced tour of the garden sites. Cascade Writers Workshop is a 4-day event in scenic Portland, OR, specializing in science fiction and fantasy writing. Allied Arts Juried Artist Series: As Above, So Below
As Above, So Below is an exhibit of art works that explore our relationship with the world. Jayme Curley creates ceramic sculptures of the human form, particularly focusing on the face. Joe Jowdy uses lighting in his photography to capture unique images of Paris. Steve Cunningham creates bright, vivid pieces by using an oxy-acetylene torch on machined steel. Tore Ofteness shows some of Europe’s most beautiful areas through unique camera angles and lighting.
In addition, the Allied Arts Gallery will also host Liane Redpath Worlund in their Inside the Box Series. Liane creates jewelry using various stones, paints and metals.

Daniel Wilkins at EBA Summer Intensive
Daniel Wilkins is coming to Emerald Ballet Academy for Session 6 (August 12-16) of Summer Intensive. Mr. Wilkins is the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of DASSdance, a bi-coastal company with homes in Seattle and New York. He formed DASSdance in 1996, with the intention of pushing the "athletic and architectural limits of dance" with daring movement and creative collaborations.
Mr. Wilkins will teach a daily modern class and choreograph a new work. This is an exciting opportunity for pre-professional dancers to share studio time with this fun and innovative choreographer!
EBA offers three levels of Summer Intensive for experienced dancers (ages 9 and up). Students can sign up for a weeklong session or combine for a total of six weeks.
