Hometown Habitat Movie Showing hosted by Wild Ones of Green Bay

The Green Bay Chapter of Wild Ones is hosting a movie theater showing of Hometown Habitat, Stories of Bringing Nature Home features renowned entomologist Dr. Douglas Tallamy, whose research, books and lectures on the use of non-native plants in landscaping, sound the alarm about habitat and species loss. Tallamy provides the narrative thread that challenges the notion that humans are here and nature is someplace else. Tallamy says, “It doesn’t have to, and shouldn’t be that way.”  Producer/Director, Catherine Zimmerman and film crew spent two years traveling the country to visit Hometown Habitat heroes. Their inspiring stories of community commitment to conservation landscaping illustrate Tallamy’s vision by showing how humans and nature can co-exist with mutual benefits.  Zimmerman shares these success stories and works in progress, that re-awaken and redefine our relationship with Nature. Lawrence University Choirs Concert

Lawrence’s Concert Choir, Cantala women’s choir and Viking Chorale presents a celebration of love songs. As a diversion from the rancor in the news, the concert will highlight how love is made manifest in song, from 16th-century madrigals to Aaron Copland, from contemporary voices like Richard Nance and Gwyneth Walker, to popular voices like Ysaye Barnwell and Jeremy Fox. With a focus on inclusivity, the concert will lift spirits and remind us what makes us human – our capacity to love. Free and open to the public. Saturday, October 8, 2016, 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM. Lawrence University Memorial Chapel 510 E. College Ave. Appleton, WI 54911.

The Cost of Discipleship - A Visual Course for Adults

The Cost of Discipleship - A Visual Course for Adults: From war torn Europe in the years preceding WWII, a young Lutheran pastor, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, is caught between good and evil. He escapes the Nazi grip, but then returns to his homeland to bring light to the darkness. For himself and his readers, he explores the price of grace and the cost of following the Savior. His life is set in the midst of a government that is slowly absorbing and controlling the church. He asks his readers to think, to search their hearts, to stretch the fabric of their faith. In the end, this commitment to faith will cost this pastor his life as he was hung by the Nazis just days before liberation by the Allies. His words still speak today! This visual course is based on a book of the same title by Diet Bonhoeffer. Join us at Our Saviour in Green Bay as we learn about this man and his faith in a visual course beginning October 18th and running for 7 weeks. Call 468-4065 to sign-up. The cost is free. Everyone welcome! Tuesday, October 18, 2016, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM. Our Saviour Lutheran Church 120 S. Henry St. Green Bay. For more info visit www.oslc-gb.org.

It is crucial that business leaders gain knowledge of the anxieties surrounding public speaking. Although public speaking anxiety is common, research shows that if not managed it can hinder professional development. To master the art of public speaking individuals must first understand how to cope with the fear.
