Fond du Lac Running Club Annual Meeting Run/Walk

Race day registration begins at 11:00am. The 3 mile run and 1 1/2 mile run/walk start at 12:00pm. Following the run/walk, the club will hold their annual meeting. At 1:30pm, a guest speaker, Mark Jakubek will speak on the topic of preventing running injuries. Mark has been a Licensed Athletic Trainer for seven years. He is a Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He received his undergraduate degree at UW Oshkosh in Athletic Training and his masters degree in Human Performance from UW La Crosse. Mark worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at UW La Crosse for two years and is now employed by Beaver Dam Community Hospital Sports Medicine. His special interests are in injury prevention, human performance, athletic performance and strength and conditioning. Submarine Nook & Cranny Tour

The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is offering “Nook and Cranny Tours” aboard USS Cobia, a behind the scenes look at a World War II submarine. 5 year old Bennett Heyrman, son of Stephanie (Exferd) and Sean Heyrman, was born with CMV (Cytomegalovirus). Approximately 8 out of 1,000 babies are born with this virus. Bennett has also been diagnosed with CP, Cortical Blindness, and is deaf, progressively developing severe disabilities. He is confined to specially made chairs, must eat through a feeding tube, experiences numerous seizures on a weekly basis, and has undergone many surgeries already to sustain his life. For centuries people have been changing fruit trees to suit their needs and you can too. In this class we will each graft and take home two semi-dwarf trees of your choice (apple, pear or plum). Join Land & Water Conservation Division staff on an evening hike to learn about the interesting lives of our native frogs in the Peshtigo Harbor Wildlife Area.
