Language of Flowers

Wednesday, August 31 | 6-7:30 pm Led by Jackie Johnson ND, Kristin Urban MA, Northeast Wisconsin Unit of the Herb Society of America The Victorian period was known for rigid morality and flamboyant decoration. Open expression of affection was frowned on…but elaborately illustrated books showed young lovers how to communicate their affection through the silent language of flowers. Today’s smart phones and text messages are just a new method of private conversation, hidden from prying eyes. Today, the language of flowers has expanded to converse about any special event. Whether the message is one of sympathy or congratulation, of welcome or affection, a cleverly selected bouquet can share words from the heart. Handouts and a make-and-take tussie-mussie will be included in the presentation. $14/GBBG Member; $23/Non-Member Register online at www.gbbg.org or by calling 920-490-9457. Wednesday, August 31, 2016, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Green Bay Botanical Garden, 2600 Larsen Road, Green Bay WI, 54303.

Art Activity Day - Transparent Colored Glass Sun Catcher

Try a new glass technique this month. Come to learn how you can use 1/8" kiln safe fiber felt in your fused glass art. You will be able to cut out a shape/image and stack transparent glass on top of your felt. When the glass melts in the kiln on top of the felt, it will fall into the holes you cut out of the fiber felt. After it is fused and you flip it over, you will see your raised shape/image. This is a drop in activity; you do not need to register. Projects are $15 each. Saturday, September 3, 2016, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass 165 N. Park Ave Neenah, WI 54956.

Everybody knows that "Laughter is the Best Medicine." Never heard of laughter yoga? It started in 1995 in Mumbai, and now there are over 10,000 laughter clubs across the globe. According to certified Laughter Yoga Leader Aaron Covey's website, " Laughter Yoga is based on the principal that your body doesn't know the difference between fake and genuine laughter. As long as you are willing to laugh you will get the same psychological and physiological benefits of laughter. It is a combination of deep yogic breathing and playful laughter exercises. It is usually practiced in groups where you can make eye contact and connect with your sense of childlike fun."
