Fond du Lac Running Club Annual Meeting Run/Walk
Race day registration begins at 11:00am. The 3 mile run and 1 1/2 mile run/walk start at 12:00pm. Following the run/walk, the club will hold their annual meeting.
At 1:30pm, a guest speaker, Mark Jakubek will speak on the topic of preventing running injuries. Mark has been a Licensed Athletic Trainer for seven years. He is a Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He received his undergraduate degree at UW Oshkosh in Athletic Training and his masters degree in Human Performance from UW La Crosse. Mark worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at UW La Crosse for two years and is now employed by Beaver Dam Community Hospital Sports Medicine. His special interests are in injury prevention, human performance, athletic performance and strength and conditioning.
There will be free pizza and refreshments for all participants and their guests during the guest speaker.

Valley VNA to Host American Red Cross Blood Drive Feb. 21
Valley VNA Senior Services will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tues. Feb. 21, at its Neenah headquarters, 1535 Lyon Drive.
Valley VNA is holding the blood drive in partnership with the Red Cross as a way to help the Red Cross keep its blood supply plentiful during the cold winter months and as a way to help support those in need of blood products both locally and nationally.
“In partnering with the Red Cross, we’ve learned that the need for blood donations is always great and ongoing,” notes Theresa Pichelmeyer, president/CEO for Valley VNA. “Valley VNA is pleased to be a community blood drive host site and to lend its support to the Red Cross in its mission to maintain a constant and safe blood supply,” Pichelmeyer said.

To whom it may concern,
We are organizing a benefit for Troy Frakes. He started with prostate cancer in 2009. He has tried all types of cures and exploratory types. He has since been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer stage 4. They cannot do any more to help him. Proceeds will go towards his medical bills and final costs.
We are asking for donations of all types that we can use as raffles items. We will be having raffles, 50/50 raffle, baskets to be raffled, booyah available for $1 a bowl and free beer or soda. We are asking for a $10 donation at the door.
The location for this benefit will be at Boweevil’s Bar at 636 Lime Kiln Rd. Green Bay, Wis. 54302. The event will start at 1pm. On Saturday February 25th. Troy is the brother of the owner of Boweevil’s Bar.

SMA is a motor neuron disease affecting muscles throughout the body. Alex Klawitter Benefit
Alex Klawitter is a young 16 year old who has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. Just days before Christmas, Alex’s test results revealed that cancer is in his kidneys, liver and bone marrow. Taking this challenge head on, Alex began treatments right away at the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital.
We are asking for your help by visiting Alex’s fundraiser on Sat. March 3 at Sacred Heart School Gym (505 Knapp St) in Oshkosh. There will be a DJ, silent auction, raffle, crazy ladies’ 50-50, cake walk, and a bake sale. There will also be a spaghetti dinner from 4-7p.m. and a dance to follow! 5 year old Bennett Heyrman, son of Stephanie (Exferd) and Sean Heyrman, was born with CMV (Cytomegalovirus). Approximately 8 out of 1,000 babies are born with this virus. Bennett has also been diagnosed with CP, Cortical Blindness, and is deaf, progressively developing severe disabilities. He is confined to specially made chairs, must eat through a feeding tube, experiences numerous seizures on a weekly basis, and has undergone many surgeries already to sustain his life. This benefit hopes to raise money for his family to purchase a van equipped with facilities to properly transport Bennett to his numerous appointments and surgeries. At this time his family is depending on a mini-van with no special equipment and mounting mechanical difficulties. Bennett’s family makes numerous trips to Madison and Milwaukee for appointments and surgeries. If we can achieve this goal, any leftover funds would go to assist with mounting medical expenses.

Do you wish your ornamental crabapples had large, juicy apples? Or your crabapple tree had pink flowers instead of white? For centuries people have been changing fruit trees to suit their needs and you can too. In this class we will each graft and take home two semi-dwarf trees of your choice (apple, pear or plum). Root stocks and scion wood (fruit tree cuttings) provided. Additional materials will be available for a fee. If you have a sharp knife bring it with you; some will be available as well. Registration required by March 16th. Members $20; Non-Members $25.

Join Land & Water Conservation Division staff on an evening hike to learn about the interesting lives of our native frogs in the Peshtigo Harbor Wildlife Area. Hear frog songs and learn to identify them and learn about native frog species, frogs as ecological indicators, and other frog lore. The hike is about 2.5 miles and insect/tick repellent is recommended. Free public program.
