Unity Volunteer Orientation

Community Events Unity, Leaders in Hospice and Palliative Care, is looking for individuals who are willing to share a little of their time to make a big difference in the lives of others. Volunteers assist patients and their families by providing respite for families, companionship and support for patients, transporting patients and even easing some of the daily activity burdens of light housekeeping and meal preparation. Daytime, evening and weekend opportunities are available. Volunteers receive initial and continual training to ensure that they feel comfortable in any volunteer roles they wish to become involved. Lawrence University Jazz Celebration Weekend Presents the Wisconsin Homegrown Jazz Quintet

Community Events This quintet features artists born and raised in Wisconsin. Brian Lynch (trumpet) grew up in Milwaukee and is recognized as one of the premier jazz trumpet artists in the world today. Joel Frahm (tenor sax) was born in Racine and was recently selected in DownBeat magazine’s Critics Poll as a Rising Star in the tenor saxophone category. Geoff Keezer (piano) was born in Eau Claire and has performed and recorded with numerous artists as both leader and accompanist. Ike Sturm (bass) was born in Appleton and currently serves as the music director for jazz at Saint Peter’s Church (the “Jazz Church”) in Manhattan. Zach Harmon (drums) was raised in Winneconne and has performed worldwide. The group will play as part of Lawrence University's Jazz Celebration Weekend. Tickets for adults range from $20-$22. Born in Bethlehem (The Shepherd's Fields) and a friend of Haj-Ameen Al-Husseni, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and notorious friend of Adolf Hitler. Walid's great grandfather, Abdullah Ali Awad-Allah, was also a fighter and close associate of both Abdul Qader and Haj Amin Al-Husseini, who led the Palestinians against Israel. Walid lived through and witnessed Israel’s Six Day War while living in Jericho. As a young man, he became a member of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, and participated in acts of terror and violence against Israel, and was later imprisoned in the Russian Compound, Jerusalem's central prison for incitement and violence against Israel. After his release, he continued his life of violence and rioting in Bethlehem and the Temple Mount.
