The comedy, written by Paul Linman and Dave Hudson takes place in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It was written specifically for American Folklore theatre in Door County and focuses on a fictitious family-owned cheese factory, Schnaybel’s. The story starts out with the death of the founder and owner, Nathan Schnaybel. Onalaska High School "Seussical the Musical" In Concert

Root River Triathlon

Athletic Events Do something different this year. This doable, non-swimming triathlon, now in its 17th year, is set in Houston in the Root River Valley in scenic Bluff Country. Participation is open to men and women of every age, but people 17 years and younger need parental consent. Participants begin by canoeing or kayaking 6.5 miles down river from Houston to Mound Prairie. Then they hop on their bikes for an 8-mile road-ride back to Houston. Some hills are challenging (% grade) and demand an extra effort. The race wraps up with a 3 mile, fairly level run, starting on the Root River Trail and winding through the streets of Houston. The finish line is at the Band Shell in beautiful Trailhead Park, right where the award ceremony will take place around noon. While you are huffing and puffing away your kids and friends can explore the one-acre Natural Playground in Trailhead Park with boulders, a hand water pump, large sand play area with buried fossils, caves, labyrinth, embankment slide, and more. Our City Spring Clean Up

General Events It’s time for some spring cleaning! Downtown needs your help this year for its annual Our City Spring Clean-Up. Juneteenth Citywide Celebration

General Events The year of 2015 will be the 150th year of the annual historic celebration since its namesake on June 19, 1865. Juneteenth, or June 19, is the date celebrated and heralded by Americans as the nation's second independence day, where freed slaves in the 19th century acknowledged their newly learned freedom by joyous singing, dancing and feasting. The day's activities has not only become tradition, but a state holiday or observance in over 40 states. The Rugged Run

Icon Writing: Sacred Windows to the Divine

General Events Icon writing is a meaningful prayer practice as well as a technical art form with a rich and inspirational history. Each icon will be written from start to finish in a step-by-step gradual process, ending with a beautifully completed icon varnished and ready to display. All materials and supplies are included. Anyone can enter into this spiritual process, expressing through the icon the mystery of the image portrayed. 7th Annual Youth Outdoor Fest

General Events The La Crosse Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office, Friends of the Upper Mississippi, and La Crosse Park & Recreation will be hosting the 7th Annual Youth Outdoor Fest on July 11, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Over 35 stations will be funded by federal, state, and local agencies as well as conservation organizations and businesses. Attendees include U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Refuge and Fishery Offices), NRCS, La Crosse Parks Recreation & Forestry, Chaseburg Rod and Gun Club, Bikes Limited, La Crosse Camera Club, Coulee Hunting Dogs, Cub Scouts, Wisconsin Trappers Association, WisCorps, Kicking Bear, La Crosse Area Bee Keepers and many others.
