Pace & Pedal Duathlon

Athletic Events BRMH Pace & Pedal Duathlon – May 30th, 2015 ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A FUN ACTIVITY FOR YOURSELF OR THE WHOLE FAMILY? For the second year in a row, Black River Memorial Hospital, the Ho-Chunk Nation, Jackson in Action, UW-Extension and Jackson County Public Health are hosting Jackson County Fitness Day, May 30th, 2015. There will be food vendors, fun activities for the entire family, and fitness events to help provide healthy choices for Jackson County residents and visitors. As part of Jackson County Fitness Day, Black River Memorial Hospital will be sponsoring the Pace & Pedal Duathlon. This race consists of a 5.5 mile run around Lake Wazee and a 10 mile bike ride near the Lake Wazee area. Participants may register individually or in a team of two; one to run and one to bike. Kickapoo Reserve Tromp & Chomp Trail Run

General Events Saturday, May 30, 2015 - The Tromp & Chomp offers 8 mile and half marathon trail run courses, all within the scenic 8,569 acres of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. Civil Air Patrol Brat Fry, Open House, & Silent Auction

General Events Come enjoy a brat, have fun with aerospace, and learn about your local Civil Air Patrol squadron! The La Crosse Composite Squadron will hold an open house. During the open house visitors can enjoy hands-on aerospace demonstrations, try their hand at flying an F-16 Fighting Falcon, and meet cadet and adult member of the CAP squadron. Pulling for Colton Cancer Benefit

General Events Colton Cox is a 6 yr. old boy from Onalaska, who was first diagnosed with RMS, just days after turning 3 yrs. of age. He had been in official remission for 18 months. His cancer has now returned. All monies raised will go to Colton's parent's to help them bridge the gap between the never-ending financial burden of his medical care and loss of wages. Colton's biggest dream is to someday be a professional bass fisherman like his buddies, Don Loch, of Dead on Fishing, and Charlie Kempf, who both are Professional Bass Fishermen and who will both be attending Colton's Benefit. Anyone who is unable to attend and would still like to make a monetary donation, may still do so, by mailing a check made payable to Pulling for Colton Cancer Benefit to any Altra Credit Union or stopping by at one of their branches. Scrap-a-thon: A Scouting Sustainability Project

General Events Community members and community businesses are invited to bring their recyclable scrap metal to the La Crosse County Landfill (9am-Noon) or Runde Metal Recycling in Holmen (8am-Noon) on Saturday, June 6th. The Scrap-a-thon is a unique fundraising event that raises money for the local Boy Scouts through the sustainable practice of recycling. Scouts will also be out in their respective communities participating in another sustainable practice, community cleanup projects, on that day. The metal donations will help support local Scouting, Camp Decorah, and camp scholarships. Spoon Carving

General Events This course will be an exploration of the various approaches to carving wooden spoons using hand tools. It is open to anyone, regardless of skill level or experience. Juneteenth Citywide Celebration

General Events The year of 2015 will be the 150th year of the annual historic celebration since its namesake on June 19, 1865. Juneteenth, or June 19, is the date celebrated and heralded by Americans as the nation's second independence day, where freed slaves in the 19th century acknowledged their newly learned freedom by joyous singing, dancing and feasting. The day's activities has not only become tradition, but a state holiday or observance in over 40 states. The Rugged Run

7th Annual Youth Outdoor Fest

General Events The La Crosse Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office, Friends of the Upper Mississippi, and La Crosse Park & Recreation will be hosting the 7th Annual Youth Outdoor Fest on July 11, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Over 35 stations will be funded by federal, state, and local agencies as well as conservation organizations and businesses.
