Saami Friendship Bracelet Class

General Events The serene and dramatic landscape of northern Scandinavia is the land of the midnight's sun, the northern lights and the Saami, a nomadic tribal group that follows the migration of the reindeer. Traditional Saami jewelry incorporated elements of their northern landscape - softened reindeer leather and sculpted antler. In this course you'll explore the traditional jewelry techniques of triple braiding coiled pewter wire and sewing the finished braid to a reindeer hide strip. Heavenly Harp Gives Concert

Old Main's 1st Annual Family Summerpalooza

General Events The Summerpalooza will be held on Saturday, August 2 from 10am – 3pm. It is directed to families with children of all ages, specifically Pre-K – 6th Grade, but everyone is welcome. This event is the kick off to the last month of summer vacation for the children and families around our area. La Crosse Shortline Railroad Open House

General Events The 4000 Foundation will be hosting guided tours of the La Crosse Short Line Railroad Museum in Copeland Park on August 2 from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Admission is free and open to the public. The La Crosse Short Line Railroad Museum was established in 1963. It consists of: Burlington steam locomotive No. 4000, built in 1930 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for high speed passenger service for the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad. It was retired from service in 1955; Milwaukee Road caboose No. 0359, built by the Milwaukee Road at their West Milwaukee shops in 1883. It last saw service as a drovers car, and was retired in 1961; and Grand Crossing interlocking tower. Built in 1928 to replace the original structure, it protected and controlled the mainline crossings of the Milwaukee Road, the Burlington, and the Chicago & North Western railroads. Athletic Events The 7th Annual Three Rivers Roleo Log Rolling Tournament will be held on Saturday August 9, 2014 at the Great River Landing in Onalaska, WI. The tournament is a partnership with the Onalaska Enhancement Foundation and Onalaska Park & Recreation. The tournament is Sanctioned by the US Log Rolling Association. Three Rivers Roleo, a level 2 tournament, is the second largest ranking tournament in the Mid-West for professional rollers. Gale Star Summer Concert Series
