Help for Forward Events To Friends

In the Event Actions window where you clicked Help, the events that you selected in the website calendar appear at the top. If you selected more than one event, you probably have to scroll to see them all.

Below the events, you see a request for information.

To forward events to friends

  1. Type the requested information and then click Send Email.

Tip If you want to receive a copy of the same message your friends receive, be sure to select Send me a copy before you click Send Email.

  2. You see confirmation that the message was sent. Click Close Window to close the Event Actions window and return to the website calendar. Or, from the menu on the left, choose another action you want to take with the events.

What does the email message that my friends receive look like?

The email message that your friends receive looks something like this:

To add the events in the message to their personal calendars, set event reminders, and forward the events to their friends, recipients can click the event descriptions. To see map directions, recipients can click the location.

Why must I provide my own name and email address?

We include your email address or name in the email message that your friends receive so they know who the message is coming from and so that you can receive any replies they might send.

If you have a Trumba® Connect account associated with the email address you provide, the name you included with that account appears in the body of the email message. In addition, that same name appears in the message From line.

If you don't have a Trumba Connect account, the email address you provide appears in the body of the email message. The name in the message From line is Trumba Event Actions.

Whether you have a Trumba Connect account or not, when your friends reply to the email message, those replies come to you at the email address you provided.

I got an error message that an email address isn't valid

Make sure your and your friends' email addresses are in standard Internet (SMTP) name@domain format. You can't send messages to email addresses in any other format.

Why would I attach event information as iCalendar (.ics) files?

If any of your friends use email programs that do not support HTML, they will receive the event information in text format. Those friends won't be able to click links in the message to add the events to their personal calendars.

If you aren't sure which email programs your friends use, you might want to select the Attach event info as iCalendar (ICS) files option. iCalendar is a standard calendar format that almost all programs support. To add the events you send to their personal calendars, your friends can just open or import the iCalendar files.
