Switch calendar views

Trumba® Connect gives you a multitude of ways to view your calendar so the dates and events you want to see are always within easy reach.

In this topic, you learn how to:

Quickly change the way events in the current calendar appear by clicking the appropriate link in the View section, above and to the left of the calendar. Select from one day, three days, a week, one month, five weeks, and one year views, or list all events on your calendar.

Most views show the event title and location and display an arrow on each event (), which you can click to display a menu of common event commands. Some exceptions:

  • In Month and 5 Week view you see only the event title. In Month view, the title is truncated but you can hover over the truncated version to see the full title.
  • Week view displays the events' Notes field in the calendar.
  • Year view shows you a table of the 12 months, with bold numbers for the dates on which you have events. You click a date to display it in Day view.

You can also change the dates displayed in the active calendar by using the navigation buttons at the top-left corner of the calendar.

Navigate and select dates

A thumbnail monthly calendar appears at the upper-left side of the current calendar. You can use the navigation buttons (A below) at the top of the thumbnail to navigate by month. When you display the month you want, you can click a date to display it in Day view in the current calendar, where you can add and modify events. In the thumbnail calendar, dates on which events are scheduled appear in bold (B).

Any time you want to return to the current date, just click the date indicated as Now (C).

Display any date

In the Go box (D) under the thumbnail calendar, enter any date to display it in both the thumbnail and current calendar.

Extend the number of hours displayed in day views

When you display your calendar in Day view, you can change the calendar settings to specify the start and end times that appear for each day. By default, the start time is 7:00am and the end time is 10:00pm. To schedule an event during hours that do not appear in Day view, you can click anywhere on the day and specify the event's start and end times or duration. When you save the event, the hours appear on the calendar.

Select which calendars you want to view

All of the calendars and subcalendars that you have created, or that other Trumba account holders have shared with you, appear in the Other Calendars, Current Calendar, or Current Publication lists on the left side of the calendar workspace. You can view each calendar individually, or you can mix in any or all of the calendars for viewing. When you mix a calendar into another, its events are integrated with the current calendar, so you can see events from multiple calendars at the same time. Calendars are differentiated by color, so the color in which an event appears matches the color behind the calendar name in the calendar lists.

To select which calendars' events to view

  1. In the Other Calendars, Current Publication, or Current Calendar list, click the name of the calendar or subcalendar you want to view.
  2. When the selected calendar appears, select or clear the check box for each other calendar you want to mix into the current calendar.

For more information about mixing calendars into others, see View multiple calendars.

Control the view when you switch between calendars

By default, when you switch between calendars, the date and view layout settings you applied to the calendar you switch from are not retained.

For example, suppose you want to add an upcoming event to Calendar A. You set Calendar A to 3 Day view and navigate to a date six months in the future. After adding the event, you switch to Calendar B. Instead of 3 Day view and a future date, you see the view at which Calendar B was last set and the current date.

You can change this default behavior so that the date and/or view layout for the currently active calendar determines the date and view layout for the calendar you switch to.

To control the view when you switch between calendars

  1. In the top right corner of the calendar workspace, click Account Settings.
  2. On the Account Settings page, in the Main Calendar View Options section:

Select Keep the same date if you want the currently active calendar to determine the date in the calendar you switch to.

Select Keep the same layout if you want the currently active calendar to determine the layout in the calendar you switch to.

  3. Click OK.

Tip: When do the view option settings apply?

The view option settings apply when you switch between calendars by:

  • Clicking a publication or calendar name in the Current Publication, Current Calendar, or Other Calendars list.
  • Choosing a publication from the Go to publication drop-down list.

The view option settings do not apply when you switch bewteen calendars by:

  • Clicking an arrow to the right of a publication or calendar name and select Go to calendar.
  • Clicking a calendar or publication name on the Manage Your Calendars page.
