The Falls on the Colorado Museum features the work of Iraqi-born artist Mhmood Goyani of Marble Falls from July 14 through Aug. 16. The exhibit includes paintings that reflect life in Central Texas and Iraq. Goyani was recently featured in an article by The Picayune Magazine. The Spicewood Community Library hosts a Chess Club from 3-5 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. All ages and skill levels are welcome to play. RSVP to 830-693-7892.

The community is invited to a free weekly program courtesy of Marble Falls Overwatch on a variety of topics from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Shores Church in Marble Falls. Topics and guest speakers vary each week. The Aug. 12 presenter is Caroline Alexander, who will talk about “Fermented Veggies & Long Term Food Storage.” Alexander is a certified body ecologist.

The Llano Fine Art Guild and Gallery presents “Canvas and Quilts: The Art of Ira and Kathy Kennedy” through Sept. 28. The exhibit features Ira’s unique dot paintings, which convey the connection between people and nature, and Kathy’s kaleidoscopic quilts that use fabric panels of her husband’s art along with her own designs inspired by the natural world. An opening reception is June 28 at 6:30 p.m. The gallery is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.

The 94th annual Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is Aug. 14-16 in Johnson City. The schedule includes a Youth Rodeo on Thursday and the main action and live music/dances on Friday and Saturday nights. Also in the lineup:
