Museum of Brisbane is giving you the keys to some of the most awe-inspiring collections across our amazing city. An irresistible array of breathtaking curiosities, Precious brings together thousands of remarkable items from more than 30 public and private collections.

From textiles to tin-toys, micro-architectural marvels to marine treasures, this exhibition is a joyful celebration of the art of assemblage. We invite you to immerse yourself into the incredible stories of some of the prolific collectors of Brisbane, and get to know what makes a keepsake and collectible truly Precious.

Suzie Miller, the celebrated Australian playwright behind sell-out smash hit RBG: Of Many, One and international phenomenon Prima Facie, turns her extraordinary talents to the historical formation of the AFLW in this world premiere.

In 2010, an official report into the state of Australian Rules Football recommended the creation of a national women’s league. Seven years and a whole lot of grit, passion and fancy footwork later, the AFLW was born. This is the untold story of the extraordinary characters that took the league from a pipe dream to a sensation the sports world could no longer ignore.

From sunrise to last call Verso Projects. Festival Village, South Bank is the civic heart of Brisbane Festival – a riverside gathering place alive with music, performance, food, art and nightlife from sunrise to late night.

As the city wakes, mornings begin with sunrise rituals, soundscapes, movement and daybreak dance parties by the river. Through the day, the Village hums with free activities for all ages – giant singalongs, pop-up performances, workshops, conversations and moments of surprise around every corner.

Then, as night falls, the energy shifts. Bright Nights by ANZ transforms the skyline in an explosion of sound, water and light, and the Village switches on after dark with live music, DJs and late-night revelry.

Come for a headline show or stumble into something completely unexpected. Grab a drink, pull up a seat by the river, follow the lights, join the party and stay for one more. The Village is where the city gathers to switch on, light up and come alive together.

Celebrating Country and Culture through the bold designs of Magpie Goose.

Museum of Brisbane is excited to collaborate with Magpie Goose, a proudly Aboriginal owned and led fashion and social enterprise, to celebrate extraordinary First Nations cultural stories and designs.

This exclusive to Brisbane exhibition, developed in close collaboration with Magpie Goose owners Amanda Hayman (Wakka Wakka and Kalkadoon) and Troy Casey (Kamilaroi), offers a deep dive into the work of some of the region’s most talented First Nations artists and designers.

Using clothing as a canvas for storytelling, this exciting collaboration will connect audiences with the rich and diverse cultural expressions of First Nations communities in Queensland and beyond. Discover the artists and stories behind the brand that’s making a difference, one garment at a time.

Step inside an exciting new residency project that invites you to experience art in unexpected ways.

Artist in Residence Renee Kire takes over Museum of Brisbane’s entryway, transforming these spaces with a vibrant and dynamic mix of striking vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum.

Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking.

Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire’s design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Repetition, rhythm and thoughtful details invite you to slow down, look closely and discover new perspectives.

Brisbane through the lens of local photographers.

The winners exhibition of the 2026 Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards brings together striking photographic works that capture the city’s spirit - from familiar streets and riverside scenes to the fleeting moments, routines and characters that make Brisbane feel like home.

New this year, the Brisbane Postcards Collection category invites photographers to showcase Brisbane’s charm and energy through images that locals recognise, and visitors instantly fall in love with. Selected winning works will be available as collectible postcards at MoB Shop.

Open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Brisbane, the 2026 Awards celebrate what makes our city unique through this year’s theme, Everyday Brisbane.

From 3 to 31 August 2026, the Brisbane Airport Pop-Up Exhibition will showcase a range of exciting artworks at two locations within the Brisbane Airport Domestic Terminal for travellers and visitors to enjoy.

In partnership with Queen’s Wharf Brisbane and The Star Brisbane, The Royal Queensland Art Society Brisbane Branch is pleased to present the 2026 Queen’s Wharf Brisbane Art Prize. Following on from the success of this exhibition in 2025 and with an expanded list of eligible mediums, visit Petrie Terrace Gallery to see what local artists love about Brisbane and their connection to it through art.

Artists were asked to submit artworks that reflect what makes Brisbane and its surrounding attractions unique. Through their artworks artists have the opportunity to tell us the story of what they love about Brisbane and their connection to it through their art. This exhibition will be judged by David Henderson; Sally Brand, QAGOMA; and Mostyn Bramley-Moore, and will be on show at Petrie Terrace Gallery from Saturday 15th August to Sunday 13th September, 2026.
