Special Events:Art Exhibit: Algonquin, Dawn Till Dusk View the Algonquin Park related works of Jesse and Susan Villemaire of Follow Me North Photography in the Algonquin Room at the Algonquin Park Visitor Centre from July 25 to August 27, 2025. Over the course of a year, the Visitor Centre’s Algonquin Room presents different exhibitions of Algonquin-themed art by area artists. The art is available for sale and a portion of each sale is dedicated to The Friends of Algonquin Park who, in turn, use these monies to enhance the educational and interpretive programs in Algonquin. Stop by to view some exciting work, and maybe meet the artist, too! This exhibit is open during the operating dates and hours of the Algonquin Park Visitor Centre. Algonquin, Dawn Till Dusk - Algonquin has a way of surprising us when we least expect it. A moose emerging from the forest, its breath visible in the crisp morning air. A loon calling through the mist as the sun rises over Lake of Two Rivers, the same place we said our vows. A beaver slapping its tail as we paddle by, sending ripples across the still water and a shiver down our spine. These moments make us stop, take a breath, and feel completely connected to the wild. For many, the park feels like home, a place where adventure, nostalgia, and unforgettable moments come together. This collection of wildlife and landscape photography reflects our time here, guided by persistence, patience, and passion. Some moments happened in an instant, like a Canadian lynx appearing out of nowhere on a snowy Christmas morning. Others unfolded slowly, like watching newborn twin moose calves take their first swim across the lake in front. But all of them share one thing in common. We were fully present, and everything else faded away. In those moments, the worries of everyday life did not matter. There was only the stillness, the connection, and the magic of nature. Every photograph was taken ethically, using telephoto lenses to give wildlife the space they deserve, ensuring they remain undisturbed in their natural environment. The more time we spend in nature, the more we realize there is always something to appreciate. Sometimes it is in the grand, breathtaking scenes, and sometimes in the smallest, most easily overlooked details. Follow Me North Photography is the creative collaboration of Jesse and Susan Villemaire, photographers and educators based in Lake of Bays. Through immersive photography workshops in Algonquin Park, South Africa, and beyond, they inspire connections with nature, and each other, through ethical wildlife photography and inclusive, ego-free education. Their fine art prints and handcrafted magnets bring a piece of the wild into everyday spaces, offering a lasting connection to the beauty and spirit of Algonquin. No two visits are ever the same, but the feeling of being here never changes. Have you seen a piece of art from this exhibit you can't live without?
