A Great Power for Good: Founding Vision Lived in Service Learning Commitment

Beyond all the good work in the classroom, Sage is a great power for good in the community because of our focus on service learning. Our Sage students and Ali Schaeffing, director of service learning and community engagement and an assistant professor of geography, will share some of the incredible service learning projects Sage has engaged in and talk about how they are transformative as an educational experience and for our community members in need.

Before the Merger: Exciting Collaborations with Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Thursday, November 19, 2026, 12:30 – 1:30pm

Russell Sage and ACPHS are working together on a food as medicine research project leveraging ACPHS’s Collaboratory in Albany’s South End. The effort will reach up to 50 food-insecure households where a family member has Type II Diabetes Mellitus and/or Hypertension. The households will receive food packages especially tailored to their health needs, as well as health monitoring and nutrition counseling during a 24-week period. As we prepare for the merger of ACPHS and Russell Sage in fall 2027, pending regulatory approvals, this is just one example of how faculty are already collaborating on exciting research that can make an impact in the community.

The Dream Partnership: Living Resources and Russell Sage

The College Experience Program – a campus-based residential program run by Living Resources that provides young adults with disabilities support, skills, confidence, internships, and work experiences – needed a new home after a college closure. Sage was proud to be selected as the new partner, and Living Resources has called our partnership “nothing short of remarkable.” Learn more about the College Experience Program and other collaborations with Living Resources, including valuable fieldwork placements for our Occupational Therapy students.
