Description | You are warmly invited to celebrate the closing of AFTER LIFE (what remains) at The Alice and Queer Value in our Project Diana space, on Saturday, July 21 from 6-8PM. The evening will feature readings by local writers and scholars Marites Mendoza and Nejat Kedir, who have written in response to the artworks presented by Alejandro T. Acierto, Michael Arcega, Leeroy New / Aliens of Manila, Super Futures Haunt Qollective, Rea Tajiri, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto / Faluda Islam, and Azin Seraj! AFTER LIFE (what remains) was just reviewed for the national art publication Hyperallergic, and repeats a fundamental question posed by curator Thea Quiray Tagle when developing the show: “The impending collapse of the Anthropocene will be devastating to life as we know it, and yet as long the planet remains essentially habitable, something is bound to survive. Radioactive cockroaches? Humanoid-plastic hybrids? What if the most salient mechanism of survival is the sheer refusal to go away?” ** Read the review (https://hyperallergic.com/451443/after-life-what-remains-alice-gallery/), then witness AFTER LIFE for yourself one more time, on July 21! --- For artist bios and more information about both exhibitions, visit ** thealicegallery.com |
