Description | Many of us have a memory of spending time in our neighborhood library, or of that librarian who pointed us to just the right book at just the right time. The image of librarians as knowledge holders and of libraries as holders of books—while still true—is shifting as librarians take on roles as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) educators with the growing emphasis on STEAM and makerspaces in libraries. Join Carrie Tzou, Associate Professor and new Director of Goodlad Institute, along with UW Bothell Associate Professors and Associate Deans, Allison Hintz and Antony Smith as well Ashley Braun, Seattle Public Library and Mie-Mie Wu, King County Library, as they share insights from two projects (TechTales and Story Time STEM) and explore how re-imagining partnerships—and learning—can help us imagine possible futures for libraries and librarians. Light refreshments will be served! Campus Research Connections is a quarterly event that provides an opportunity to hear from and talk with UW Bothell faculty who are making advances in research, scholarship and creative practice. |
