Puget Soundkeeper Alliance actively monitors Puget Sound through kayak patrols and boat patrols. Volunteer patrols form a central part of their effort to monitor pollution and prevent debris from contaminating our waterways. Volunteers will help patrol on kayaks with garbage bags and remove debris from the shorelines. Limited transportation is provided. Lunch provided. Registration is required. What to bring: Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Wear athletic clothing that can get wet and/or muddy, and bring an extra set of clothes if you wish to change afterwards. Old tennis shoes are a good option if you don’t have water shoes. If it is sunny, consider wearing a hat and sunscreen and bring plenty of water. All kayaking and cleanup equipment is provided. Bags can be stored in the NWOC office. Waivers: Everyone will need to sign a Puget Soundkeeper waiver and a NWOC waiver. Participants under 18 will need a guardian to sign BOTH waivers on their behalf. This can be done in advance or the day of. A safety overview will be delivered before heading out.
