| Description | Space Stations are a pilot project series facilitated by Pamela K. Santos as artistic practice incubators for BIPOC writers meeting in 4-week modules around themes of introspection and self-inquiry. “What is your relationship to your art?” is the central question guiding the twice-weekly virtual sessions and self-directed exercises. Space Stations envision cooperative communities (“waystations” in the galaxies) that writers can drop in based on needs and shape how to support each other in literary ecosystems of our own creation. Module 1: Ask The Cup & Who Will Answer? What is your relationship to your art? Asking the right questions is the start of any journey. Answers are less important than the questions you ask yourself as you write and consider your creative practice. Think of your art as a living being you want to be in dialogue with. Let’s engage over 7 cups of tea (or beverage of choice) in writing prompts, casual reading discussion, and real-world conversations about writing processes. This first space station asks participants to be comfortable with questions and looking inward about relationships to one's writing. Exercises will include provided readings, inventory of resources and strengths, and imagining possibilities of your art. Instead of products, the goal at completion is to have anchors: visual maps, text drafts, outlines, or other tangibles to divine practices, manifestos, and artistic statements.
