Organizational Excellence and Human Resources and the Office of Diversity and Equity invite you to join Dr. Andrea Salazar, Licensed Psychologist from UW Counseling Center, for a two-hour Zoom workshop on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. During this session we will discuss the embodiment of trauma from anti-blackness experienced by Black and Brown persons – “Challenging the Embodiment of Anti-Blackness” . Living in U.S. society, we internalize messages of anti-blackness which live in our minds and bodies. This workshop will explore and challenge those messages in an experiential way. We will use concepts from Resmaa Menakem’s book, My Grandmother’s Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies. This workshop is created for those who want to challenge internalized anti-blackness and learn techniques for managing embodied racial trauma. This is a beginning step in our anti-racist journey.
