Description | from The Convergence Zone is a series of author readings, and artist talks and performances, sponsored by the MFA in Creative Writing & Poetics at the University of Washington Bothell. It brings together sometimes peaceable, sometimes combustible, fronts of discovery and experiment. This series brings to the (virtual) Seattle metropolitan area exciting writers and artists who "cross" and "trans" genres and media. It discusses and performs written arts in an expanded field. Please join the MFA for Creative Writing and Poetics Cultural Change seminar for a Craft Talk & Conversation on Community Storytelling Through Games with Avery Alder via Zoom. Pre-register for this event to receive an e-mail with the Zoom details the day of the event. This talk is open to the public and will be recorded. January 28, 2021: Avery Alder
Avery Alder is a queer roleplaying game designer hailing from Sinixt territory. She is the designer and publisher of Monsterhearts, The Quiet Year, Askew, Ribbon Drive, and a host of smaller, scrappier projects. Her work—whether set against the backdrop of a collapsing civilization or in the midst of our everday lives—explores how our identities, relationships, and communities transform one another. In addition to designing games, Avery is a workshop designer, facilitator, and consultant specializing in play-based learning. Avery Alder’s craft talk and conversation is funded through the MFA in Creative Writing and Poetics. Please contact Ching-In Chen (chingin@uw.edu) for more information. |
