REGISTER on Zoom now! Brandon Iwasaki (Environmental Science ’11) is an environmental scientist turned business systems analyst with 10 years of experience in a variety of environmental programs. Iwasaki applies his environmental knowledge to transform legacy business processes and systems, while enabling culture change with communication skills and emotional intelligence. Previously, Iwasaki worked for Clean Water Services, Washington State Department of Transportation, and SoundEarth Strategies, Inc. He holds a M.S. in Applied Data Science for Business. Darryl Nevels (Environmental Science ’12) is an Epidemiologist working with the Tennessee Department of Health and Division of Family Health and Wellness and focuses on suicide prevention syndromic surveillance and data analysis. He is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Public Health specializing in Epidemiology and working on Alzheimer's and dementia research for his dissertation. Additionally, Nevels holds an M.S. in Geographical Information Science (GIS) and Technology. Jamie Strusz (Culture, Literature & the Arts ’11) is a Senior Engineer and Director of Transformation on the Professional Services team at GitHub, a subsidiary of Microsoft. She leads organizations through technical and cultural change efforts of varying size and complexity, and facilitates their efforts to cultivate InnerSource culture. Jamie focused on art history at UWB and became an art historian at Google. Her self-taught programming skills allowed her to transition into a full-time software development role after demonstrating the ability to patch internal tools. She went on to be Microsoft's GitHub transition expert and was then recruited by GitHub itself before it was acquired. Before returning to finish her degree at UWB, she was a professional ballet dancer. Anne Washington (Mathematical Thinking & Visualization, '18) is a Senior Data Analyst at Calligo, a consulting firm based out of the UK. She has worked there since graduation and consults clients on the health of their business using data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI. *** Mentor Chats are designed to assist students with career exploration, networking, and learning about a range of professional trajectories.
