Did you know that a potential cure to cancer exists, but people of color have a lower likelihood of accessing this lifesaving treatment? This event will provide information about the opportunity to save lives through the Be The Match registry. Our panelists are members of historically Black sororities and fraternities and are working together to raise awareness about the need for people of color to sign on to the marrow registry and follow through when called to help cure cancer. The panelists will share their very personal experiences with cancer and marrow transplants. Each of our panelists have their own unique story. You’ll hear from Dorian Price, diagnosed with Leukemia in 2019 and is searching for a donor match to save his life. University of Washington professor Alexes Harris will share her experiences of searching for a live donor. Even though she was not able to find a donor, she was able to receive a cord blood transplant in 2016. We will also have a real superhero, Tai Velasquez, who has donated marrow and helped to save someone's life. Please join us for this very real and personal discussion about cancer and transplants and the need for your help. Learn more and register to attend on The Whole U events page. |
