Description | Mental health literacy is a term used to describe a person's knowledge and attitudes about mental illness, treatments, crisis support, coping, and supporting others. This session will teach the basics of mental health literacy as they pertain to college students. We will describe mental illness and substance abuse prevalence, local resources to support oneself and others, how to challenge stigma, and when to seek treatment. We will also discuss what types of mental health treatment options are available in the community and on campus. We will also learn where folks can get more information and training if they would like to seek certification or even a career doing mental health work. |
