Description | SJCE always starts the academic year with a social justice mixer and is closing out the year with a gathering to help students reflect and connect to the UWB community. The objective of this event is to provide a diversity-centered space for students to recharge from the quarter, eat, and connect with each other. To facilitate this, we will provide food, allowing students to sit down and socialize, converse with SJCE, reflect on their accomplishments, and plan and develop SMART goals for the next quarter or school year. As well as a time for them to just have fun with each other and get to know SJCE more as an organization. The event will be occurring during lunch time, and it will provide students with a proper and balanced meal. The food will be from a local business and we believe that the food will help us uplift our cultures and values. The food itself represents diversity as it will accommodate all dietary restrictions. Food will help the students to bond over their cultures and experiences as well as foster a safe environment for students to speak freely and feel empowered and seen. ?We will be serving food from a local minority-owned business and giving students opportunities to socialize. We may not see each other during the summer and want to be in community so we take positive memories with us and into the next fall quarter. |
