Emory Innovation Certificate Program (Applications Now Open)

The Emory Innovation Certificate Program is an 8-month, hands-on biomedical innovation program designed to help participants translate healthcare and research ideas into real-world solutions through expert-led sessions and collaborative activities focused on healthcare innovation, entrepreneurship, commercialization, intellectual property, prototyping, translational impact, and venture development. All sessions are in-person.

Designed for Emory-affiliated faculty, clinicians, researchers, trainees, staff, and healthcare professionals interested in healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship; however, all interested participants are encouraged to apply, with admission based on course capacity.

Have you ever had to make a decision when you weren't 100% sure you were right? What about a decision where you wondered if you were even the right person to make the decision? Many of us have had moments that have been outside our comfort zone and shaken our confidence. This is all the more true for change leaders because there are not maps to where we are going. And yet, we have to make decisions anyway.
That's why The Detour has asked Amari Morton, Founder of Great Change Health, to explore ways to develop our confidence as leaders. Greater Change Health works with individuals, families, and organizations to offer on-demand and accessible therapy services. As a Founder and leader in the mental health space, Amari is well-equipped to facilitate us on a journey to maintain the confidence we need to lead effectively. Here is what we promise:

- Clarity: You will leave The Detour with at least one clear action step you can take to lead with more confidence

- Community: You will meet and have meaningful conversations with innovative leaders like you to learn from and lean on each other

She has more than 25 years of experience helping Georgia entrepreneurs and researchers understand, compete for, and secure federal funding through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. Connie began her Georgia Tech career supporting the technology transfer of NASA-developed innovations and promoting NASA SBIR/STTR opportunities. Before Georgia Tech, she worked at TMP Executive Search and Solvay Pharmaceuticals. Connie holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary Washington and an MLIS from the University of South Carolina.
