Childbirth Prep 101 (In-Person Class)

Saturday, June 13, 2026, 10am – 4pm

Expectant parents will learn the value of working as a team during the childbirth process. Class covers breathing and relaxation techniques, stages of labor, and medication options.

What To Bring:

Please wear comfortable clothing such as yoga type attire, like leggings or shorts.
Class will start promptly at the designated time, so please allow yourself a few extra minutes to arrive.
Lunch will be on your own. There will be a short break for lunch. You may bring your own lunch or buy lunch in the cafeteria. This fast-paced class.

Fee: The cost for this class is $160 for up to two people, including parking. There are no discounts available at this time for those planning to attend without a partner.

Our program is not considered in network with insurance companies. You may be able to submit your receipt for reimbursement. Please check with your insurer.

Beyond Birth Virtual Support Group

Monday, June 15, 2026, 1 – 2pm

After months of anticipation and excitement, your baby is here. Often, life after baby is not how you imagined it. Perhaps your labor or birth did not go the way you expected. You may feel anxious or overwhelmed, having trouble sleeping, afraid to take your eyes off your sleeping infant. You may feel down, emotional, and unsure of yourself. You're not alone. 1 in 5 new or expecting mothers/birthing people suffer from a PMAD (perinatal mood and anxiety disorder) often referred to as postpartum depression. This group provides space for gestational parents to discuss the honest, real, and hard parts of labor, delivery, and early stages of parenthood. The first few weeks and months with a new baby can be a time of great change. Even when all is going well, many families can use additional support. This support group provides a welcoming, non-judgmental space for parents to share, heal, learn coping skills, and connect with others who are going through the same thing.

This group is offered twice monthly.

This CPR class is taught by instructors certified by the American Heart Association. This “friends and family” non-certifying course focuses on rescue procedures for infants and children up to eight years of age. Instruction covers emergencies such as choking, respiratory arrest and cardiac arrest. Parents, grandparents, and child care providers are encouraged to attend.

Our program is not considered in network with insurance companies. You may be able to submit your receipt for reimbursement. Please check with your insurer.

BABY CARE BASICS at PAH

Tuesday, June 16, 2026, 6 – 8:30pm

Boost your confidence as a new parent by learning safe and comfortable ways to care for, swaddle, diaper and bathe your baby. We will also discuss normal newborn appearance and characteristics. This class is offered in-person and you will be able to practice with life-sized dolls, diapers, wipes, and blankets. For best date options, please register for class when entering the third trimester and select a class that ends approximately 3-5 weeks before your due date.

***In the event of actual or forecasted inclement weather, you will be notified by email at least 24 hours in advance and the class will switch to virtual format. You will be sent the link to join through your email. It will be helpful to have a doll, stuffed animal, diaper, and blanket on hand in case this happens.

Penn Parenting Resource Center offers this Parent-Baby group where you will be able to ask questions, share experiences, and learn how to parent with confidence. The group is led by experts in newborn care and infant development and can help you adjust to new parenthood. In this class, you will meet parents whose infants are the same age as yours, allowing you to start building your community now that baby has arrived.

Preparing for Cesarean Birth

There are times where a pregnant person will require a Cesarean Birth (or C-section) for a variety of reasons. This class is taught by a doula experienced in preparing individuals for this type of birth experience. She will cover what to expect before, during, and after the surgery for yourself and your baby. There will be time after the content to ask questions.

Pediatric First Aid (Online)

This class is taught by a Registered Nurse who will help expectant and new parents learn how to handle many emergencies that can occur with babies and young children. There is a focus on child safety and prevention, as well as specific action plans for when mishaps do happen and how to stock a first-aid kit. The instructor will also spend some time going over how to support a choking infant and child, as well as providing a brief overview of CPR.

This class is taught by a Registered Nurse who will help expectant and new parents learn how to handle many emergencies that can occur with babies and young children. There is a focus on child safety and prevention, as well as specific action plans for when mishaps do happen and how to stock a first-aid kit. The instructor will also spend some time going over how to support a choking infant and child, as well as providing a brief overview of CPR.

Preparing for Cesarean Birth

There are times where a pregnant person will require a Cesarean Birth (or C-section) for a variety of reasons. This class is taught by a doula experienced in preparing individuals for this type of birth experience. She will cover what to expect before, during, and after the surgery for yourself and your baby. This “friends and family” non-certifying course focuses on rescue procedures for infants and children up to eight years of age. There are times where a pregnant person will require a Cesarean Birth (or C-section) for a variety of reasons.
