Story Bridge will be lit Green to celebrate Ekka

Ekka - 150 Years in the Making!
In 2026, the Ekka celebrates an incredible milestone - 150 years of bringing Queenslanders together for the state’s biggest and most loved event. Staged at its original birthplace, the Brisbane Showgrounds, the Ekka has been uniting city and country since 1876 in a true celebration of agriculture and community.
Showcasing the very best of Queensland, with more than 21,000 competition entries, over 10,000 animals from cattle to cats, world-class live entertainment, award-winning food and wine, carnival rides and showbags, family shopping, educational activities and much more. For 150 years, the Ekka has been attracting more than 400,000 people each year.
Ekka will run for 9 days from the Saturday, 8th - Sunday, 16th August 2026, and includes Peoples Day on Wednesday August 12th.

Story Bridge will be lit White, Orange and Green to celebrate India Independence Day & India Fair Day

Celebrating India Independence Day, which is celebrated on August 15 every year to commemorate India's freedom from the British rule in 1947. Celebrations will culminate with India Fair Day on 15 August at Roma Street Parklands showcasing Indian culture, traditions, and achievements while fostering harmony among diverse communities.

The annual Brain Injury Awareness Week raises awareness of brain injury and its impact. Synapse provides a range of support services for people who have been impacted by a brain injury or disability. These services promote quality of life, self-determination, and choice through information, specialist support, and targeted research activities.

Supporting Daffodil Day will help vital cancer research and lead Queenslanders in a partnership against cancer.
