Description | As humanities scholars, we’re always thinking about how to turn our research into something engaging and accessible for the real world. We want the things we’ve found to do something, to make a difference. This round table will feature two documentary teams who did just that. Frances McCue and Cali Kopczick are the writers behind Where the House Was, a documentary about how we attach to places, taking as their example the history and tear-down of Seattle’s Richard Hugo House. Sarah Salcedo is the producer and co-director of Promised Land, a documentary following the Duwamish and Chinook tribes' history in the Northwest and their ongoing fight for federal recognition. Both teams have grappled with the balance between ethics and artistry in folding the voices of their subjects into a final project. Come hear what they’ve learned and workshop your own ideas in this free 2-hour workshop. |
