Description | LOCATION CHANGE! PLEASE NOTE NEW LOCATION Come learn how to go from being a Japanese language student to a K-12 Japanese language teacher in Washington state. In this session, the presenter will share her experience of becoming a Japanese teacher, as well as provide guidance and motivation for those considering becoming a teacher. We will discuss requirements, preparation, and keys to success in navigating the path towards Japanese language teaching as a profession. Kei Tsukamaki (UW 2008) earned her Master’s in Teaching at Seattle University, and taught Japanese and Spanish at Kentlake High School from 2011-2018. She currently teaches Japanese at Woodinville High School. She also is currently serving as President of the Washington Association of Teachers of Japanese and has presented at regional, state, and national world languages conferences. Her areas of interest are comprehensible input, assessment, and curriculum design using thematic units and authentic resources. |
